Here's How Spider-Man: Far From Home's Cliffhanger Can Be Solved

Very interesting!

Spider-Man: Far From Home’s mid-credits scene showed Peter Parker (Tom Holland) getting outed as the webslinger by J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) thanks to information from Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) and his pals.

In the mid-credit scene, Mysterio’s colleagues edited a video of the final confrontation between the villain and Spider-Man to frame Parker as his murderer as well as the mastermind behind the fake Elemental plot. They then revealed his secret identity to the world, something that’s never happened to Spidey in the movies.

While this could be setting up a very bleak third movie, another post-credit scene showcased an easy fix to the whole situation.

In the movie, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) recruit Spider-Man into getting involved with Mysterio in the first place.

However, we later find out Fury and Hill were never actually there, instead Captain Marvel’s Skrull general Talos (Ben Mendolsohn) and his wife Soren (Sharon Blynn) were posing as the duo after receiving orders from the real Nick Fury.

While we obviously want to know more about Fury and the Skrulls, the shapeshifters could be key to solving Spidey’s problem.

Talos or Soren could easily impersonate Peter in public, while the real Spider-Man appears alongside him to ‘prove’ they’re not the same person.

It might seem a little wild, but a similar situation has occurred in the comics according to ScreenRant.

A feverish Peter tells Harry Osborn, Mary Jane Watson, Gwen and George Stacy his real identity, but later organises a situation to have him attacked by the ‘real Spider-Man’ to fool them again.

In that situation, ‘Spider-Man’ was Hobie Brown AKA the Prowler, who wore Peter’s costume.

There have been other situations in the comics where Daredevil, Patriot, Iron Fist and Nightcrawler teamed up to help Spidey, however, given that none of these characters have appeared in the MCU, it’s unlikely they’ll help him out of this bind so the Skrulls could do it instead.

Talos was embarrassed by Mysterio and feels guilty about not protecting Spider-Man, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising if he felt guilty enough to help him recover his secret identity.

So, it’ll be interesting to see whether Sony and Marvel take this option to protect Peter’s identity or if they choose to keep Peter out in the open and vulnerable.

The other option is that the entire thing was actually another Mysterio illusion and it never actually happened? It’s not impossible.
