Let’s put all our cards on the table right off the bat: Netflix’s new film, The King, is less of a historical epic about King Henry V and more of a dangerous thirst trap because it contains a double whammy of Timothée Chalamet and Robert Pattinson.
Let’s focus on Timothée first, who hacked off his trademark locks for a somewhat questionable bowl cut that King Henry V was known for having. But whatever he may be lacking in the hair department, he more than makes up for it with his deep-voiced British accent.
It’s the kind that’ll send shivers down your spine. You know the sort.
But whatever hair Timothée lost for the part, Robert appears to have gained because the ridiculously talented actor playing a dashing French knight who is rocking some seriously luscious long locks.
Let me repeat that: Robert Pattinson is playing a French knight and has got long hair like a shampoo model.
Talk about a huge glow up from Cedric Diggory.
Netflix definitely knew what they were doing with The King by bringing in both Timothée Chalamet and Robert Pattinson because that’s guaranteed to draw attention.
But The King has more going for it than just being a thirst trap masquerading as a historical epic. It’s got famous faces like Lily-Rose Depp and Sean Harris, as well as talented Aussie talent like Ben Mendelsohn and Joel Edgerton, who co-wrote the film.
Throw in Aussie director David Michôd (who made Animal Kingdom and The Rover) into the mix and you’ve got the pieces for a surprisingly stacked movie.
As for when The King will make its way to your TV screens for an evening of historical intrigue and excessive frothing over Timothée and Robert, it’s going to get a limited release in cinemas on October 11 before hitting Netflix on November 1.
