The New Batmobile Tells Us Quite A Bit About Robert Pattinson’s Batman

"Do you wanna know how I got these cars?"

After sneak peeks at Robert Pattinson (and his jawline) all suited up as the Dark Knight and the new grimy Batman suit in action, The Batman director Matt Reeves has given us the first look at his take on the Batmobile.

And folks, it is frigging sick.

Speaking of DC superheroes, the GOAT team dive into ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:

Taking to Twitter, Matt Reeves shared three images of Robert Pattinson standing alongside his new ride and it is immediately clear that “gritty” is this new Batman’s preferred aesthetic.

In contrast to Christian Bale’s tank and Batfleck’s landspeeder, R-Batz’ Batmobile takes inspiration from the car in the classic 1960s Batman TV show as it looks a good ol’ fashioned muscle car painted black. With it’s exposed engine at the back and the slick chassis, it is a car that would make Vin Diesel and the rest of the Fast And Furious crew envious.

But beyond looking like something taken straight out of a Mad Max movie, The Batman‘s new Batmobile actually gives us quite an insight into the sort of Dark Knight Matt Reeves is moulding Robert Pattinson into.

Unlike the last couple of Batmobiles, this one actually looks like a “car”, albeit a muscle car that was bought from a dealer and heavily modified by someone very mechanically-minded.

This suggests that R-Batz will be quite the handy fellow, which is something Matt Reeves has emphasised when talking about his take on Batman. Plus, it also reveals that R-Batz is a fan of Fords and Mustangs, which is a neat little piece of characterisation.

The grittiness of the car also once again emphasises how this Batman is still early in his vigilante career and quite a while away from the slick, Gatling gun saddled tanks we usually see with a “seasoned” Dark Knight.

That would certainly explain the Batmobile’s exposed engine at the rear, which looks cool but isn’t exactly well protected from gunfire. That’s how you learn I suppose.

Will we see R-Batz jump from skycraper to skyscraper with his Batmobile in The Batman ala Fast & Furious? Who knows, but he definitely has a car that looks like it could do it. June 2021 can’t come soon enough.
