MAFS Is Telling Us That Sex Is Required For A ‘Normal’ Relationship

Let's not talk about sex, baby.

Another day, another MAFS Lesson.

Welcome back to MAFS Lessons, the only class you’ll actually enjoy attending! This lesson marks a very special one because instead of analysing the participants, our eyes have shifted towards the so-called, “experts”. If you’re more of a visual learner, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Recently on Married At First Sight, it has become apparent that, while the show promotes the idea of finding love, really the only way to do so, is through having sex with your partner. The show very much promotes sex as a core element of a “normal, everyday, healthy relationship,” which, to be honest, is absolute bullshit.

If you love Married At First Sight, make sure you check out this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

Throughout this week’s commitment ceremony, a common thread began to surface, and it was all to do with intimacy. It didn’t matter how the couple were progressing, each and every duo had to be asked if they were getting close, in a way that “traditional” married couples should be.

This was until Ivan and Aleks stepped up to the plate and told the experts to cut it out. When questioned about how their intimacy was going they straight up said rejected their prompts. “I think it’s a sacred subject,” Ivan said, “very sacred”, Aleks added. “It’s just not a topic that we’re comfortable discussing,” Ivan continued.

And what do you know, the experts were having none of it. The experts pushed the idea that they weren’t asking for the details and that they just wanted to know if the couple was talking about intimacy, but the couple wasn’t buying it. You can watch what went down here:

Sure, sex plays a role in some relationships, but the keyword here is some. It’s something that certainly differentiates two people from being friends and being a couple. But, not everybody is the same.

As Ivan and Aleks have proved thus far in the series you can build a relationship on more than just sex. There are even people out there, who believe it or not, don’t have relationships but still have sex as well.
So, maybe it’s time the experts stepped off on the “intimacy” line-of-questioning.

It’s one thing to ask and it’s another thing to demand. Everybody has their own unique ways of building a relationship and you can’t force your way of thinking onto them, no matter if you’re an “expert” or not.

If you haven’t done your MAFS homework, make sure you catch up on previous lessons. So far, we’ve learnt about gaslightingwhy adults still need supervisionhow to meet people in a socially acceptable way and also how crappy friends can ruin a relationship.
