Forget A Baby Boom, We’re In For A Flood Of New Music After COVID-19

Good to see musicians using their iso to be productive.

While celebrities in self-isolation seem to be making headlines for all the wrong reasons during this coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, there are some out there (like Harry Styles) who are keeping things on the DL and using this time to be productive, like writing a crapload of new music.

Speaking of music while in coronavirus quarantine, the GOAT team talk about music artists streaming concerts for those isolating at home on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:

Chatting to Zane Lowe and Apple Music (via Rolling Stone) about how he’s coping with his coronavirus COVID-19 self-isolation, Harry Styles said everyone is “kind of adjusting to the new normal,” how reality sets in after reflecting on what’s happening around the world, especially after chatting to some of his mates in Italy, and how being in quarantine at home helps people remove themselves from what’s happening around the world.

As for what he’s been up to, Harry says he’s trying to maintain a routine while under self-isolation that consists of a lot of meditation, reading, getting outside for some exercise (while maintaining social distancing of course), and going for drives to “get some air and some sun.”

But the tastiest tidbit was Harry revealing how he’s “been writing so much” while under self-isolation, saying “I’m doing some of the stuff that I should be doing more often anyway. … I should be playing the guitar more. I should be writing poems and lyrics more. So I’ve been doing a lot of that.”

It’s definitely better than, well, this.

So going off that, could it mean we might be getting new Harry Styles music as a follow up to Fine Line sooner than expected? One hopes so, and it’s actually not that big of a stretch to suggest that we could be getting a tsunami of coronavirus COVID-19 inspired new music when this whole thing is over.

We’re already seeing signs of this enforced creativity bear fruit. There’s Stevie Nicks saying Harry Styles has inspired her to be creative, Jon Bon Jovi getting fans to help him write new songs about coronavirus COVID-19 struggles, Ben Folds knuckling down to write a new album while stuck in Australia, and many, many musicians releasing coronavirus-themed songs.

With the level of creativity being shown already by musicians stuck in self-isolation, we can probably expect to be overwhelmed with the amount of coronavirus COVID-19 influenced new music that’s on the horizon (as well as a potential baby boom). Don’t expect a Weird Al Yankovic parody about the disease though.

Sure the economy will be in a pretty rough state when the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic is over and there will likely be a baby boom of sorts given all the loving that’s going on (or will happen), but at least we’ll be inundated with a heap of new music to help us get through the aftermath.
