It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Sorry 'Love Actually,' Netflix's 'Let It Snow' Might Be The Better Xmas Movie

Love actually isn't all around?

There are just 42 days left until Christmas, which means it’s time to plan your well-earned break being a couch potato. Priority number one? Which Christmas movies will go best with your cold cuts and leftover beer.

It’s been sixteen (!!) years since the Christmas classic Love Actually hit cinemas, and it’s a tried and tested favourite – I mean, how could we ever get over this scene?

However, Netflix may have just thrown a spanner in the works with the new Chrissy flick Let It Snow, which is being described as Love Actually for teens.

According to IMDb, Let It Snow is set in a small town in Christmas Ever where a snowstorm brings together a group of young people. Like 2003’s Love Actually, Let It Snow follows a range of different storylines that crossover and have one common thread – which is of course, love and relationships.

The clearest difference between Love Actually and Let It Snow, is that the latter is focused on a group of young adults, and features a far more diverse cast, some of which are in same-sex relationships.

While Let It Snow isn’t as ‘star-studded’ as Love Actually – the closest you’ll get to Keira Knightley is Kiernan Shipka – it might just trump the 03 classic come Christmastime. It even racked up 75% compared to Love Actually’s 65% on Rotten Tomatoes, if that’s anything to go by.

Let It Snow isn’t the only festive film Netflix is flogging this silly season. This year, the streaming platform offers Holiday in the Wind, featuring Sex and the City’s Kristin Davis, the animated Klaus, not one but two Vanessa Hudgens Christmas filmsThe Knight before Christmas and The Princess Switch, Holiday Rush and A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby.

Then there’s all your classics, like the aforementioned Love Actually, The Grinch and how could we forget The Holiday, featuring Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black and Kate Winslet!?

Interestingly, the one thing all these films have in common is that they’re set in the snow because, well, ‘Murica. My question is, when is Australia going to get a true blue Christmas film, complete with prawn peeling, beer drinking and cricket watching in 45 degree heat? Sounds like there’s enough to watch in the meantime, starting with Let It Snow.
