The Simpsons Might Have Predicted The World Cup Final Draw So I Guess We Really Do Live In A Simulation

Another day, another world event predicted by an episode of The Simpsons that came out 20 years ago.

As we near the Grand Final game of the FIFA World Cup, predictions of who will end up in the final draw are getting more and more heated. But now soccer fans are facing the cold hard facts and accepting that this year’s final has already been foretold in a 1997 episode of The Simpsons.

If you have Mexico vs. Portugal as your endgame, congratulations, you’ve got the infamous future-telling power of The Simpsons on your side.

The match is out of an episode from season nine entitled ‘The Cartridge Family’ and it’s announced as the one that will “determine once and for all which is the greatest nation on Earth: Mexico or Portugal.”

So, it’s giving off definite World Cup final vibes.

At this point, considering Portugal’s draw with Iran on Monday and Mexico’s current sitting, the teams can’t meet until the final! Or at least the third place play off! Ignore that! Let us focus only on the fact that this episode absolutely could become a reality.

Between Trump becoming President and the NSA spying scandal, The Simpsons has a rep for their disconcertingly accurate future predictions, so who are we to question their World Cup final draw?

Soccer fans, behold this glorious That’s So Raven moment, and adjust your predictions accordingly.
