Oh Dear, Fans Are Convinced C-3PO's Going To Die In 'Rise Of The Skywalker'

"One last look..."

It didn’t take long after Disney released the trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker for fans to find clues and while it didn’t answer all too many questions, it did leave many people questioning whether C-3PO will make it to the end of the film.

In the trailer, there’s a scene of the droid with Poe, Rey and Finn and when asked how he’s doing he says he wants to get “one last look… at my friends.”

We don’t get any more hints as to why C-3PO is getting ready to say goodbye, but fans were already worried about the droid after catching a glimpse of him with menacing red eyes at the D23 Expo.

Fans took to Twitter to share their heartbreak over the possibility that another beloved Star Wars character would bite the dust.

Some thought it was nice that his story would be coming full circle, but others were ready to riot if he does die.

Some were also heartbroken by the fact it would be so sad if he did die as he wouldn’t know the impact he had on the whole story.

Others thought of how sad it would be that he’d be leaving R2-D2 behind.

Following the whole creepy red eyes scene, some fans were worried the droid would be taken to the dark side or was perhaps being rewired to help the resistance.

The actor behind C-3PO, Anthony Daniels, recently revealed to The Times, he thinks Disney went overboard and released too many films too quickly.

“I think they did overstep the mark and got overenthusiastic. People became satiated. Star Wars went full tilt and overfed the audience,” he said.

Star Wars fatigue was proven when Solo was released only a few months after The Last Jedi – while the film should have performed really well at the box office, it fell well short of the $1 billion mark, a figure most films in the franchise easily hit.

Whether or not C-3PO dies in the film, we’ll no doubt be left feeling very emotional thanks to literally any scene Carrie Fisher is in as Leia Organa.

Filming on The Rise of Skywalker had not yet begun when Fisher sadly passed away in 2016, but when they did start shooting, Disney announced they would be using previously unseen footage of her rather than CGI.

Leia was originally meant to be at the forefront of the film like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker were for the previous two films.

We just hope Leia is given a fitting farewell in the film.
