Spider-Man's Return To The MCU Could Be A Hint The Next Avengers Movie Is On Its Way

It would make sense!

Much to the delight of Spider-Man fans around the world, Sony and Marvel have finally agreed to share the character once again and work together on a third solo movie and an as-yet-unconfirmed MCU film.

And the deal has us wondering: which MCU film will we see Peter Parker in? At this stage, he doesn’t seem to fit in with the MCU movies that have been announced for Phase 4, so that means it’ll likely be something after 2021 that hasn’t been announced.

Considering Spider-Man is possibly the most popular superhero in the world, it would be safe to say that Marvel will use him in a pretty big movie – they’ve previously used him in their biggest team-up films: Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

So, according to ScreenRant, it’s highly likely Marvel will use him in the unconfirmed Avengers 5.

At this stage, Marvel has yet to announce another Avengers movie that will bring their tentpole characters together, so it’s only a matter of time before one’s announced.

Kevin Feige has previously said that Marvel already knows what their Avengers roster looks like and it’ll include familiar and new characters.

ScreenRant suggests Marvel might reinvent the Avengers with a Young Avengers movie (featuring characters like Cassie Lang and Kate Bishop) and that way Spider-Man can be one of the more experienced heroes.

The other option would be for Peter to show up in the Fantastic Four movie, because a cameo by Tom Holland would certainly give that movie a boost and there’s actually a story from the comics that could help put that in motion.

In an interview with CinemaBlend (before the Marvel/Sony split), Feige indicated that the third Spider-Man movie will see Peter step “out of the shadow of Tony, out of the shadow of the other Avengers, as his own man now.”

“And yet now facing his own challenges that aren’t coming from Avengers fighting, like Civil War, or aliens coming, like Infinity War or Endgame. It’s all Peter focused and Peter based.”

It’ll be very interesting to see how Spider-Man 3 deals with the fact Peter’s identity has been revealed against his will and what that will mean for the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.
