According to AP News, federal officials were so stressed that Ghislaine Maxwell would go the way of her long-time confidant Jeffery Epstein while in jail awaiting trial that they took away her clothes and made her wear paper clothing instead.
Just to be doubly cautious, federal officials also took away Maxwell’s bedsheets to make sure she doesn’t use them in some unsavoury way that’s unrelated to sleeping.
On top of all that, other protocols include additional guards being placed outside her jail just to make sure other inmates don’t harm Maxwell and to stop her from harming herself, ensuring she has a roommate in her cell, and someone always being with her while she’s locked up.
Given all the criticisms of the US prison system and what went down during the whole Jeffrey Epstein saga, these measures put in place to stop Ghislaine Maxwell from killing herself suggests that federal officials have learned a few lessons in not wanting another “Epstein didn’t kill himself” moment.
