NBA Star Rudy Gobert Seriously Regrets His Coronavirus Antics, Unsurprisingly

He dropped the ball big time.

From the Formula 1 to the NBA, the coronavirus pandemic has caused many sporting events around the world to be canceled. The circumstances surrounding the NBA were particularly Onion-seque as it began with Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert mucking about during a press conference and making jokes about the coronavirus, which included him going around touching all the reporters’ microphones.

These antics ultimately came back to bite Rudy Gobert in the arse as he later tested positive for coronavirus and subsequently caused the 2019/2020 NBA season to be suspended, which probably wouldn’t have gone down well with his colleagues or the reporters in that touchy-feely press conference. It’s certainly an NBA plot twist that even Space Jam couldn’t have predicted.

Unsurprisingly, Rudy has now issued an apology for his antics and he really, really regrets what he did that day. Talk about dropping the ball.

Speaking of the coronavirus, the GOAT team talk about all the events that have been cancelled due to the disease on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:

Taking to Instagram with a lengthy post, Rudy says he’s been in a glass case of emotion since learning about his coronavirus diagnosis and it’s made him reflect upon his earlier antics.

He then publicly apologised for carelessly endangering all the people he may have “endangered” with his microphone-touching shenanigans, saying that he “had no idea” he was even infected and that he “was careless’ and makes “no excuse” about it.

Listen to how coronavirus has affected the Australian Grand Prix below:

Hoping his story serves as a “warning and causes everyone to take [the coronavirus] seriously”, Rudy says he intends to do what he can to support and educate others about the disease going forward.

As far as apologies go, Rudy’s one is… actually pretty good. Yes he was a jackass in that press conference but he did a good job expressing his remorse over what an idiot he was in the face of a serious matter.

And for those wondering how the coronavirus will affect Rudy, the NBA star says he’s in “great care” and is expected to fully recover.

Hats off to Rudy Gobert for learning a valuable lesson here about taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously, even if it required him actually getting the disease for the message to get through. Karma truly is a bitch.
