Pete Evans' Latest Insta Rant Takes Aim At NZ's Beloved Jacinda Ardern

Eek.

If you aren’t across Pete Evans’ 2020 Instagram persona, I’d suggest taking some time to go back and have a look here, here, here and probably here. The celeb chef and former MKR judge has flogged everything from dodgy COVID-19 cures to mind-boggling conspiracy theories, and now he’s taking aim at New Zealand’s beloved Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern.

Evans recently Instagrammed a News.com.au article detailing four new cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand and Ardern’s decision to enter the country back into lockdown measures. He captioned the image, “if you want to see the agenda play out. Keep an eye on NZ over the coming months. Vote for freedom in the coming election.”

The controversial chef also tagged @nzpp_official, the Instagram account for the New Zealand Public Party, a political party with the motto “it is time to take back New Zealand for the people.”

It didn’t take long for Pete Evans’ followers to clap back at his post in the comments section. One user wrote, “Pete, come on mate, I’ve always really liked you and what you believe in. I listen to all of your podcasts religiously. Please don’t turn this into bullying. The message you are spreading is better than that.”

Another commented, “Chef Pete, have loved and admired you and all you stand for, for years in particular your food philosophy but I’m not sure why you are getting obsessed with this Covid outbreak and conspiracy theories? Why as a highly respected chef would you get into this space?”

Despite the criticism, plenty of Evans’ followers agreed with his post and some even began posting theories that New Zealand would be put under military rule, and claims that the NZDF will “assign their troops to regions to enforce mandatory testing with household testers.”

According to multiple reports, four new cases of coronavirus have been detected in New Zealand – and the source of them remains a mystery to health authorities.

Speaking of lockdowns, hear about how some citizens of Melbourne have been coping below:

Following the confirmation of these new cases, New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the city of Auckland would be going back into stage three lockdown from midday August 12th.

Speaking in an address via 9News, Ardern said New Zealand had a “resurgence plan that we are now activating.”

“That plan is based on what we’ve seen from resurgence overseas,” she said. “These three days will give us time to assess the situation, gather information, make sure we have widespread contact tracing so we can find out more about how this case arose and make decisions about how to respond to it once we have further information.”

It’s really no surprise Pete Evans is giving his two cents on New Zealand’s lockdown considering his theories about everything else happening in the world. It’s just another reminder to take his social media posts with a pinch of salt.
