Justin Trudeau’s Deafening Silence Over Trump Question Says It All

No need to say anything at all.

After days of silence on the George Floyd protests, Trump showed the world what a piece of shit he is when he emerged from the White House bunker and proceeded to tear gas some peaceful protesters at a nearby church just so he can get a bible-holding photo op in a vain attempt to prove he’s not a little bitch.

It was a move of a giant orange baby, not a world leader. So when Canadian PM Justin Trudeau was asked about Trump’s piss-poor handling of the George Floyd protests and that stupid church photo op, he responded with a 21-second pause that was more deafening than anything he could’ve possibly said.

The GOAT team talk about Trump’s photo op and Trudeau’s reaction on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:

During Justin Trudeau’s daily briefing, the Canadian PM was asked to comment directly on Trump’s “words and actions” in handling the George Floyd protests and racial tensions in America, as well as Combover Caligula’s decision to tear gas peaceful protesters for his church photo op.

While Trudeau is normally pretty quick to answer and has more than enough snark to spare, this time he responded with a very, very long pause that lasted 21 seconds.

This wouldn’t be that big of a deal in a regular context, but given the situation in America and the famously frosty relationship between Justin Trudeau and Trump, the Canadian PM’s silence was more powerful and deafening than anything he could’ve said.

After what seemed like an eternity, Trudeau ended up giving a pretty stock answer without directly mentioning Trump: “We all watch in horror and consternation at what is going on in the United States. It is a time to pull people together … it is a time to listen. It is a time to learn, when injustices continue despite progress over years and decades.”

But it didn’t matter what Trudeau ended up saying. That 21-second pause was enough.

The reactions on Trudeau’s silence was split. Some progressives were annoyed at his non-answer instead of tearing Trump a new arsehole while others applauded how his 21-second pause and diplomatic answer was more than enough to express his disgust of Trump’s actions without jeopardising Canada/America relations.

Given the tense situation that’s going on in America, Justin Trudeau was wise to not get himself and Canada involved with whatever fustercluck is unfolding around Trump. And besides, what more could he have said about Trump and his shithouse handling of the George Floyd protests that wouldn’t have come off as preaching to the choir?

That 21-second pause said everything that needed to be said.
