A Lesson In Barre, For A Very Confused Scott Morrison

"I might need help with that."

Last night, many Australians were left with more questions than answers after prime minister Scott Morrison announced the latest coronavirus measures. However, no one was more confused than Scott Morrison himself, after he announced that fitness centres including yoga and barre classes, would have to end. Here about it below:

As he listed the services that would be ending, ScoMo added in barre, pronouncing it “Bar-ey.” Not only did he incorrectly pronounce the word (barre is pronounced ‘bar’) but he then went on to admit he had no idea what it was.

“I hope I pronounced that correctly,” he said. “I might need help with that.”

“I’m not sure what that is, but barre, for those looking for the specific definition, and spin facilities, saunas, wellness centres.”

Look – I’m not expecting our 51-year-old male prime minister to know what barre is, but whatever happened to faking it until you make it!? We weren’t the only ones snickering over Scotty’s barre gaffe. Hoards of Twitter users took to social media to roast the PM, and others proudly admitted they had no idea what it was, either.

For Scott Morrison, and others who may not know, barre is a ballet-inspired fitness class that combines the use of a ballet barre and classical dance movements with elements of yoga and pilates to target the core, arms, legs, back and glutes.

The barre comment wasn’t the only facepalm moment to come out of last night’s press conference. Viewers were asking just as many questions about the enforcement of 30-minute haircuts and Scotty’s confusing comments about food courts and shopping centres.

During the conference, Morrison also announced a ban on all overseas travel, indoor gatherings, funerals of more than 10 people and weddings of more than five. For a full rundown of the new restrictions, head here

While the new restrictions are confusing, and drastically changing life as we know it, they’re crucial to our country making it through this challenging time.
