Amber Heard and Johnny Depp
After just one year of marriage, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard called it quits in 2016 – but it wasn’t as simple as signing divorce papers and moving on. Heard obtained a temporary restraining order against Depp and accused him of being verbally and physically abusive to her while under the influence.
They reached a settlement in court and the divorce was finalised, but in 2019, Depp sued Heard for USD $50M over an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post and claimed she was the abuser in the relationship. Fast-forward to today, and the pair are still fighting in court – this time as part of a libel suit Depp has filed against UK tabloid The Sun for a 2018 article in which he was labelled a “wife beater”.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries
If you thought Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s marriage was speedy, wait until you hear about Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’. These two decided to part ways in 2013 after just 72 days of wedded bliss and a two-part TV special for Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Several news outlets speculated that the marriage was a publicity stunt and thousands of people signed a petition asking for all Kardashian-related content to be removed from the air following the split. Even though Kim and Kris were married for less than three months, their legal battle lasted for almost two years.
Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry
When actress Halle Berry and model Gabriel Aubry split up in 2010 they agreed to split custody of their daughter Nahla who was two years old at the time. Things took a turn for the worse, however, when Berry got engaged to actor Olivier Martinez in 2012 and asked the courts if she could relocate to Martinez’s native France with Nahla. The courts denied Berry’s request and weeks like Martinez and Aubry got into punch-up.
After two years of battling, a Superior Court called for Berry to pay Aubrey $16,000 a month in child support as well as hundreds of thousands in retroactive payments.
Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger
After almost a decade of marriage, actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger divorced in 2002. In his 2008 book A Promise to Ourselves: A Journey Through Fatherhood and Divorce, Baldwin detailed the former couple’s messy celebrity divorce seven-year custody battle of their daughter Ireland, and claimed Basinger had spent more than $1.5M to deny him parental access.
