These Celebrity Divorces Make Your Messy Breakup Look Like Nothing

Yikes.

What do you get when you put two ridiculously good-looking and incredibly famous celebrities in the same marriage? Either a show-stopping celebrity power couple destined for world domination, or a messy train wreck divorce waiting to happen.

Sadly, very few high profile divorces end amicably and more often than not, the messy court battles and heartbreaking splits are plashed across tabloids for the world to see. S

Here are 4 celebrity divorces that will make your emotional breakup look like nothing:

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp

After just one year of marriage, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard called it quits in 2016 – but it wasn’t as simple as signing divorce papers and moving on. Heard obtained a temporary restraining order against Depp and accused him of being verbally and physically abusive to her while under the influence.

They reached a settlement in court and the divorce was finalised, but in 2019, Depp sued Heard for USD $50M over an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post and claimed she was the abuser in the relationship. Fast-forward to today, and the pair are still fighting in court – this time as part of a libel suit Depp has filed against UK tabloid The Sun for a 2018 article in which he was labelled a “wife beater”.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

If you thought Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s marriage was speedy, wait until you hear about Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’. These two decided to part ways in 2013 after just 72 days of wedded bliss and a two-part TV special for Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Several news outlets speculated that the marriage was a publicity stunt and thousands of people signed a petition asking for all Kardashian-related content to be removed from the air following the split. Even though Kim and Kris were married for less than three months, their legal battle lasted for almost two years.

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry

When actress Halle Berry and model Gabriel Aubry split up in 2010 they agreed to split custody of their daughter Nahla who was two years old at the time. Things took a turn for the worse, however, when Berry got engaged to actor Olivier Martinez in 2012 and asked the courts if she could relocate to Martinez’s native France with Nahla. The courts denied Berry’s request and weeks like Martinez and Aubry got into punch-up.

After two years of battling, a Superior Court called for Berry to pay Aubrey $16,000 a month in child support as well as hundreds of thousands in retroactive payments.

Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger

After almost a decade of marriage, actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger divorced in 2002. In his 2008 book A Promise to Ourselves: A Journey Through Fatherhood and Divorce, Baldwin detailed the former couple’s messy celebrity divorce seven-year custody battle of their daughter Ireland, and claimed Basinger had spent more than $1.5M to deny him parental access.

Amber Heard's Former Assistant Alleges She 'Stole' Her Sexual Assault Story

"She twisted it into her own story."

Content Warning: This article discusses sexual violence and rape.

As Johnny Depp’s libel lawsuit against UK tabloid The Sun continues, more and more shocking revelations about his relationship with ex-wife Amber Heard emerge with each new day of court proceedings. Most recently, Amber Heard’s former personal assistant has accused the actress of “stealing” her story of sexual violence and “twisting” it for her own benefit.

“Ms. Heard referred to a conversation we had about me being violently raped at machete point in Brazil and she used it as her own story,” Heard’s former PA Kate James told the court, via Page Six

“She referred directly to a violent rape that occured to me 26 years ago and she twisted it into her own story and she used it for her own use,” she added.

According to Page Six, James only realised Heard had “used” her story when she was sent court documents related to the case.

“As I perused the documents, much to my utter shock and dismay, I discovered that Ms. Heard had in fact stolen my sexual violence conversation with her and twisted it into her own story to benefit herself,” she explained in a statement obtained by the Daily Mail.

“This of course caused me extreme distress and outrage that she would dare to attempt to use the most harrowing experience of my life as her own narrative,” she added.

James has testified as part of Johnny Depp’s libel case against The Sun over a 2018 article that said he was a “wife-beater.” Depp vehemently denies ever hitting Heard.

“I’m a sexual violence survivor and that’s very, very serious to take that stance if you are not one and I am one,” James reportedly told the court. “That’s the reason I’m here, because I take offense.”

Throughout court proceedings, we’ve learned about events leading up to Depp and Heard’s highly publicised split including reports the actress “may have pooped in their bed as a ‘prank’”, that Depp’s finger tip was severed during a violent row between the pair and that actor James Franco is somehow involved in the mess.

It’s hard to know how this case will end, but one thing is for certain, the allegations coming from Amber Heard’s former assistant are incredibly serious and utterly heartbreaking if true.

Come Cringe At The Cleaners Who ‘Unknowingly’ Removed Banksy’s Train Art

Well, this is awkward.

The line between street art and graffiti has become increasingly blurred for those not a part of the art world, and often it can lead to some pretty uncomfortable mix-ups – like famed artist Banksy’s train art getting wiped away by diligent cleaners.

Bansky recently took to London’s Underground disguised as a cleaner to create a new piece called ‘If You Don’t Mask, You Don’t Get’ inside a Circle Line train carriage.

The artwork featured Banksy’s signature stenciled rodents alongside face masks, hand soap and bold aqua ‘sprays’ inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unfortunately, by the time Bansky debuted the piece on his Instagram account, it had been swiftly wiped away by Transport of London (TfL) cleaning crews.

“It was treated like any other graffiti on the network,” a TfL source said via BBC. “The job of the cleaners is to make sure the network is clean, especially given the current climate.”

Considering Banksy’s art has sold for up to $12 million in the past, it’s cringe-worthy to think it was wiped away without a second thought. However, London’s cleaners have a point.

In the midst of the pandemic, cleaning crews are making an extra effort to ensure public transport is clean and safe for commuters to use without the risk of contracting COVID-19.

It’s also worth pointing out that Banksy’s train art has been labelled as a stunt to encourage the use of face masks, and perhaps it was never intended to become a permanent fixture.

It’s by no means the first time Banksy’s art has been damaged, destroyed or removed. The anonymous artist has had countless outdoor pieces mistakenly washed away by council cleaners in an effort to combat graffiti, and he’s even had artworks stolen from fuel pumps and electricity meter boxes in public.

Hear about one of the most ridiculous IRL museum heists below:

Let’s also not forget the fact that in 2018, one of Banksy’s paintings self-destructed and quite literally shredded itself moments after it was sold at auction for $1.4M.

According to the Evening Standard, a TfL spokesman has now said, Bansky’s train art “was removed some days ago due to our strict anti-graffiti policy. We’d like to offer Banksy the chance to do a new version of his message for our customers in a suitable location.”

No word from Banksy on the offer as of yet.
