Jeffree Star is no stranger to controversy. From the infamous Tati and James Charles drama to faking his own YouTube videos, Jeffree Star can never seem to get out of the spotlight. And this week is no exception.

Just recently, Jeffree Star announced the imaging and release date for his new make-up palette called ‘Cremated’.
Let’s just say, this didn’t really go down well. A lot of Twitter users pointed out the insensitivity in releasing a palate related to death at a time when thousands of people are dying around the world.
As a result, Jeffree Star has released a video today justifying his decision to put out this pallet and giving a reason as to why he didn’t delay the product because of coronavirus. You can watch the video here with the clarification happening at the start of this lengthy clip.
In response to the timing of this palate coming out during the coronavirus pandemic, Jeffree defends himself by citing the lengthy process of releasing a make-up palate. The make-up guru said, “You guys, if you did not watch the series that me and Shane did on making the conspiracy palette… it takes months and months and months, sometimes a year plus to actually make a product…”
Later on in the video, Jeffree Star also said, “This idea, I created over a year ago, I trademarked it, the trademark went through on September of last year and we delayed this already a lot and sadly, with production and in the make-up world, if I were to try to move ‘Cremated’, it would not have fit anywhere in this year. This year is, uh, full. Which you’ll see later… I would have had to move it to later in the fall of 2021 and I never want to give my customers a bad experience, I never want to sell expired make-up… so I made the executive decision to delay the collection over a month and a half.”
As for the inspiration, Jeffree Star assured his followers that he never intended to hurt anyone with this palette, saying: “For me, this is art. I never come from a negative place, you guys. My own father who passed away and my two dogs that passed away are all cremated and it is a tradition in my family. Now, nothing ever comes from a bad place. So, if you were thinking that, absolutely not… I created this to make people smile, I created a brand for all the weirdos for all the people that really didn’t feel like they fit in. So, in no way was this created to be offensive.”
