M.I.A Reckons Vogue Tried To Silence Her Anti-Vaxxer BS

She said she'd "choose death" over a vaccine.

Tensions between M.I.A and British Vogue have reached boiling point amidst the pandemic after the musician made some questionable comments about a coronavirus vaccination.

Earlier this week, M.I.A posted (then deleted) an Instagram pic of a text conversation with someone telling her that British Vogue editor Edward Enninful had withdrawn his offer to feature her in the magazine. Hear about it all below:

“Considering our August is an issue where we’re chronicling the struggles of the NHS to cope while a vaccine is tried to be made we don’t feel we can have her involved,” the message said. “It just wouldn’t be right. All of our issues July-September will be supporting frontline healthcare workers and we need to be respectful of them and all they are doing until a vaccine exists.”

In an Instagram Live, M.I.A – whose real name is Mathangi Arulpragasam – said, “I missed a lot of vaccines and plot twist: I’m still alive.”

“If I don’t make it past this age, that’s okay, I don’t have to live as a hypochondriac and inject myself with five hundred million zillion vaccines to stay alive.”

Hear about all the batsh*t crazy coronavirus ‘cures’ and causes below:

It’s not the first time M.I.A has copped backlash for her anti-vax comments. Last month she tweeted, “If I have to choose the vaccine or chip I’m gonna choose death.”

The singer has even jumped on the baseless 5G conspiracy theories. She said that while she doesn’t think 5G gives you COVID-19, she does think “it can confuse or slow down in the healing process as the body is learning to cope with new signals, wavelengths, frequency etc at the same time as COVID.”

It’s no surprise British Vogue wants to cancel their feature with someone who has a problem with a COVID vaccine when the magazine is championing the very people at the forefront of one.

M.I.A joins a growing list of public figures who have spoken out against a COVID-19 vaccination. Taking responsibility and understanding the power of having a platform is so important right now – spreading information that perpetuates fear or could harm someone’s health is never okay.
