Joey King And Jacob Elordi Confirm That Breaking Up In The Public Eye Was Awful

"It can be brutal."

If you’re a fan of Netflix’s many teen rom-coms, you’d be well aware of The Kissing Booth and the fact two of its stars – Joey King and Jacob Elordi – dated (and broke up) both on-screen and off-screen before the highly anticipated sequel. In a recent interview, the pair revealed that doing all of that in the public eye was actually a pretty rough trot. Hear all about it below:

Speaking to ET, King said, “In this world, everyone wants to know your business and what you’re doing. And I think it’s very interesting when you go through things and people kind of feel like they’re owed an explanation, but I understand.”

“For me, I’ve publicly gone through some things, privately gone through some things, it’s all about finding your balance, finding what makes you comfortable,” she said. “And it can be brutal, but you know happy endings do come to those who are patient.”

On the other hand, Elordi told ET it initially “bothered” him that people paid so much attention to his dating life. “Just even the fact that somebody you don’t know knows your name could be quite disembodying,” he said.

“But then eventually, for me personally, it’s got nothing to do with me, you know. Imagine the store around the corner from where you are now. Whatever people are talking about is not your business, it’s kind of how it feels,” he said.

“Unfortunately, it just has my name involved in it but it literally has nothing to do with me. It just doesn’t affect the trajectory of my life,” he added. “So I just kind of ignore it.”

Joey King and Jacob Elordi dated for more than a year after filming the first Kissing Booth but sadly called it quits in 2018. King has moved on with The Act producer, Steven Piet, while Elordi is now dating his Euphoria co-star, Zendaya. Hear all about that below:

As for whether Elle (played by King) and Noah (played by Elordi) end up together by the end of The Kissing Booth 2, the former couple had different answers.

“I don’t know where their story will take them, but I’m so excited that we get to see Elle and Noah in this movie,” King said. “It’s exciting for fans to be able to see them again.”

“Yeah, why not? I think so,” Elordi said. “I reckon, I would say so.”

It must take a hell of a lot of maturity to act alongside your ex-partner in a film so kudos to these two.

Kim K's Comments On Kanye's Mental Health Is The Sincerity We Need

"I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us."

This week, Kanye West sparked concerns after he broke down in tears during his first Presidential rally and went on a troubling Twitter rant about everything from his children to being ‘locked up’ with a doctor. Today, Kim Kardashian finally broke her silence on her husband’s mental health.

In a statement on her Instagram stories, Kardashian told her 180M followers, “As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder…I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health.”

“But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health,” she added.

Kardashian said, “people who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”

She said she understands that Kanye is “subject to criticism because he is a public figure” but “those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words sometimes do not align with his intentions.”

“Living with bi-polar disorder does not diminish or invalidate his dreams and his creative ideas, no matter how big or unobtainable they may feel to some,” she wrote. “That is part of his genius and as we have all witnessed, many of his big dreams have come true.”

Kardashian finished her statement by telling the public, “we as a society talk about giving grace to the issue of mental health as a whole, however we should also give it to the individuals who are living with it in times when they need it the most.”

She then asked that the media and public “give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this.”

Kardashian’s statement comes after fans and peers, including Halsey, spoke out about Kanye’s mental health and how seriously we should be taking his concerning behaviour – rather than turning it into a joke.

Considering how airbrushed and Photoshopped the Kardashians lives on TV and social media can be, it’s refreshing to hear Kim speak so candidly about Kanye’s mental health struggles. If anything, it’s a reminder that we really don’t ever know the reality of what is going on behind closed doors, and that we should treat all humans – and their emotions – with compassion and respect.

It Took A Comedian To Come Save Kanye From His Troubling Twitter Rant

"The world needs some joy."

This week, Kanye West sparked mental health concerns when he spoke about abortion, slavery and broke down in tears at his first Presidential rally and launched in a troubling Twitter rant the following day.

In a series of tweets – many of which have been since-deleted – Kanye called out wife Kim Kardashian and mother-in-law Kris Jenner for trying to ‘lock’ him up and seek the help of a doctor. Speaking of Kimye, hear about their latest news below:

Later, he tweeted about Shia LaBeouf about Anna Wintour before sharing a screenshot of a message seemingly sent to Kris Jenner, which reads, “This Ye…You ready to talk now…Or are still avoiding my calls.”

The rapper then went on to post a screenshot of a Google search of the phrase “righteous indignation” and tweeted, “Kim was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie Get Out because I cried about saving my daughter’s life yesterday.”

While some social media users found Kanye’s Tweet spree ‘funny’, many of his fans pleaded with the public to take his concerning mental state seriously. His tweets even caught the attention of singer Halsey, who told her Twitter followers, “a manic episode isn’t a joke. If you can’t offer understanding or sympathy, offer your silence.”

Kanye’s concerning Twitter activity also garnered a response from comedian Dave Chapelle who went to visit the rapper at this Wyoming ranch.

In a video, obtained by TMZ, West says to Chapelle and a small group of friends, “Dave, can you just make us smile? The world needs some joy.”

“Brotherhood is real, love is real,” Chapelle says in response. After a bit of pressure from West, Chapelle makes the group giggle and they exchange a warm goodbye.

It’s so heartwarming to know that Kanye West has friends like Dave Chapelle who will drop everything to make sure he’s doing okay.

As we’ve mentioned, we can only hope Kanye gets the help he needs as soon as possible.
