I’ve decided that Jerry from Cheer is my new positivity icon, because everything he does makes me feel like the world is made of sunshine. Whether Jerry is mat talking the hell out of people about to compete at Daytona, cheering people on as they go to work, or hyping Billie Eilish on the Oscars red carpet, I’m here for it.
Yep, in the crossover I could have only dreamed of, Jerry has been busy interviewing celebs as they make their way into the Oscars. I didn’t think at first that Jerry and Billie Eilish would gel, seeing as Jerry is so overly bright and delightful where as Billie is more calm and super cool, but I am stoked to be proved wrong.
Speaking with her brother Finneas, Billie begins by admiring Jerry’s championship ring from Daytona. Because he’s Jerry, he asks if Billie wants to try it on, and because Billie is a human being and not a robot she obviously says yes.
Thus we get the most wholesome moment of the Oscars so far. It’s made even better when Jerry starts explaining that he got the ring from the Daytona championships, and Billie yells back “I KNOW. WE SAW.”
I can only dream of the day that we see Jerry up on the Oscars stage handing out an award, but while we didn’t see too much of him, we saw a lot more of Billie Eilish. Namely, her incredible reactions to absolutely everything.
Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig’s musical bit was damn funny, I’ll give it that, but Billie Eilish’s face is the face I’m pulling almost 24/7.
The face made another appearance when Eminem hit the stage in a surprise performance of Lose Yourself.
Honestly, it seems like the happiest Billie Eilish was all Oscars night was when she was chatting to Jerry about his Cheer ring.
So here’s to Jerry and Billie. The dream team I never knew I needed until now.
