Henry Cavill Would Politely Like You To Stop Asking Him Superman Questions

Only Henry Cavill can make being pissed off sound so polite.

Henry Cavill has been in the business for a while but he’s best known for two things: Geralt in Netflix’s uneven but stupidly fun Witcher series and as Superman in the DCEU. While he’s more than happy to chat about being rugged Legolas, it seems like he’s getting over being asked about the mopey Man Of Steel.

Speaking of comic book movies, the GOAT team talk about the MCU on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:

Appearing on Variety‘s ‘The Big Ticket’ podcast, Henry Cavill was happy to chat about what to expect from season two of The Witcher and what he’s doing to get ready for a second go around as Geralt.

As it is with most Henry Cavill interviews, talk eventually moved onto Superman, the Snyder Cut, and all the buzz over rumours of him putting the cape on again. This time though, it seems like he’s getting a little tired of being asked these sorts of questions because his response sounded like a man who was just tired of it all. That being said, he was still polite as hell about it all.

“[The rumours] get wilder and wilder by the day. The amount of speculation, the stuff I read on the Internet, is extraordinary and sometimes frustrating. It’s when you see people stating stuff as fact. Like, ‘No, that’s not the case. That hasn’t happened, and that conversation isn’t happening.’”

The dip into “over it” territory was very brief though as Henry quickly course-corrected and went with his PR-friendly answer of saying that he is totally cool with playing the Man of Steel again some day.

“But the important thing is that people are excited about it, and I think it’s important to be excited about a character like Superman. Superman is a fantastic character. If people are chatting about it, and even if they’re making stuff up, it’s okay, because that means they want to see the character again. And in an ideal world, I would absolutely love to play the character again.”

It must be quite frustrating for Henry Cavill to talk about Superman all the time because not only is he definitely under strict rules from DC to not say anything of substance, he likely just wants to talk about other projects he’s passionate about and not be pigeonholed into the one role forever.

But hey, hats off to him for showing us how to be frustrated in the most polite way possible.
