It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Based On These Leaked Photos, It Looks Like Pokémon Tamagotchis Are Coming To A Store Near You

Gotta feed 'em all.

Thanks to an unconfirmed image that’s been floating around Twitter, we now know that a Pokémon x Tamagotchi crossover might be hitting shelves soon enough.

Serebii, the go-to site for anything Pokémon-related, tweeted this on Tuesday:

Based entirely on the images (since I can’t read Japanese), it looks like the crossover Tamagotchis will feature Eevee, our favourite Normal-type Pokémon who can evolve into 8 different creatures.

Even more excitingly, it looks like the toys will include the ability to evolve. To top that off, it also looks like different Eevees will be available, including one in a Team Rocket hat and a Ditto Eevee.

This is even more exciting than the announcement earlier this year that Bandai were bringing back the original Tamagotchi. An Eevee Tamagotchi is a fantastic idea, and I’m surprised no-one came up with it back when Pokémon and Tamagotchi were originally popular (although that might have something to do with the fact that the company behind Tamagotchis was also instrumental in bringing Digimon to life. Remember Digimon? Yeah, didn’t think so.)

Based on the leaked image, it looks like the device will be available in two colours, an Eevee brown or patterned pink.

Back in the 90s, Nintendo sold a Pocket Pikachu that was similar to the Tamagotchis we know and love, but this would be the first virtual pet device to feature Eevee. Frankly, I think that in addition to this Eevee Tamagotchi, they should re-release the Pocket Pikachu, because I didn’t have one as a kid and it’s left a hole where my heart should be.

Nintendo and Bandai have yet to confirm the existence of the collaboration, but fingers crossed they don’t ruin our hopes and dreams by telling us it’s fake. I need a pocket-sized Vaporeon!

In the meantime, we have the Pokemon: Let’s Go games to look forward to – they’ll hit shelves next week, along with the special edition Nintendo Switch with brown and yellow controls for Eevee and Pikachu respectively.
