Um, The Petition To Have Danny DeVito Play Wolverine Hit A Huge Milestone

"Cast Danny DeVito as Wolverine, you cowards."

Since Disney’s merger with 20th Century Fox, fans have been left wondering when the X-Men will join the MCU – and more importantly, who will play Wolverine?

Well, it looks as though some fans have an idea for who it should be and it’s probably the person you’d least expect – Danny DeVito!

Seriously, a bunch of X-Men fans have started a petition to have DeVito play the mutant and it just reached a huge milestone with more than 50,000 people signing the petition at Change.Org.

Considering the actor is now 75-years-old we don’t have a lot of hope that he’d actually be hired for the gig, but hey, the fans are definitely keen.

The petition states that DeVito is the only person who’d be able to play Wolverine convincingly.

It reads, “The only man able to take the throne after Hugh Jackman. We believe that if Wolverine is to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the only man able to pull it off is Danny DeVito.

“A couple good reasons as to why I believe so strongly that he suits the character:

“Danny DeVito’s height is a lot closer to the comic books portrayal of Wolverine. With Danny being 4’10” and Wolverine 5’3″.

“Secondly, we all saw Danny’s portrayal of the Trashman. So, we know he is fully capable of fighting, and that he is not afraid when things get dirty!”

The Trashman, was DeVito’s character Frank Reynolds’ wrestling persona, in It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

There are plenty of other actors that fans want to portray the superhero including Daniel Radcliffe, Taron Egerton, Scott Eastwood, Keanu Reeves and Garrett Hedlund. But perhaps DeVito is the dark horse we need to watch out for?

OK, so there’s probably very little chance DeVito will portray Wolverine, but he was considered as the voice of Rocket Raccoon in The Guardians of the Galaxy, but director James Gunn decided to go in another direction with Bradley Cooper according to CinemaBlend.

You can check out DeVito in Jumanji: The Next Level, which is out this month.
