The New 'Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker' Poster Has People Seriously Confused

"Ummmm what is going on in this poster."

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the final movie in the Skywalker Saga, is set for release this month and we’re still getting new promotional material for the film, but one poster for IMAX is confusing fans about who they’re actually looking at.

The poster focuses on four main characters – could they all possibly be Skywalkers? We’re still waiting to hear more about Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) parents and those questions will definitely be answered in this film with Ridley confirming the news with USA Today.

Fans were very excited to see Rey and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in the poster with Luke (Mark Hamill) and Leia (Carrie Fisher). In the poster, Carrie is looking in the opposite direction to Luke, the light side, while Rey looks in the same direction as Luke which could be the dark side.

Rey is front and centre and Leia is to the left, but it’s the righthand side that’s left fans confused.

Luke and Kylo’s heads are together in the poster and it looks very strange. Some fans even see Obi-Wan Kenobi instead of Luke (I’ll admit that’s who I saw first). Others are confused about the hair sprouting out of Kylo’s mask, but some fans have noted it’s simply Luke’s hair.

Fans have taken to social media with mixed responses to the poster.

One user commented on the Star Wars Instagram post, “Ummmm what is going on in this poster lol.”

Another added, “Eh, not a big fan of this poster. It’s too confusing and takes a lot of looking just to figure it out.”

Many others questioned why they were seeing Obi-Wan instead of Luke in the poster. Someone wrote, “Pretty sure it’s Luke. But it looks a lot like Obi Wan.”

Other’s questioned why Anakin wasn’t on the poster.

It’s definitely not the clearest of posters, but at least it has kept things simple with only four characters this time.

Luke may have died in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but we know he’ll likely be returning to the film as a Force Ghost. And while Carrie Fisher sadly passed away in 2016, director JJ Abrams had lots of unused footage of the actress in The Force Awakens to use for this film, which was originally meant to be “Leia’s film”.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits cinemas on December 19.
