There have been a lot of A-listers joining the MCU of late with Jake Gyllenhaal in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Salma Hayek in The Eternals and Mahershala Ali as Blade and now we’re thinking Ryan Gosling might appear in the next Thor film.
Just Jared has a photo of Gosling and Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi having lunch together with rumours suggesting the La La Land actor will be joining the MCU.
The pair isn’t known to be friends and haven’t announced any upcoming collaborations, however, it was previously rumoured that Gosling would star in Waititi’s film Akira.
Akira is currently on hold while the director works on Thor 4, so it’s possible they were discussing that film or Next Goal Wins, which will be finished before the MCU flick.
One rumour is that Gosling could be in talks to play Adam Warlock, a character that was first teased in the post-credit scenes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. At first, it was thought the character would appear in GOTG Vol. 3, but after the photos of Gosling and Waititi’s meeting went public, people now think the character will appear in Thor 4.
Warlock is a very powerful character and many thought he’d make an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame as he plays a huge role in those stories in the comics.
Zac Efron, Alexander Skarsgard and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau have all been rumoured to be in the running for the role, so it’s definitely not a sure thing at this stage.
It’s pretty clear that Gosling would shine in any role thrown at him and Waititi makes amazing movies, so I’d definitely love to see these two pair up for a project.
At this stage, we know Chris Hemsworth will be returning for the next Thor movie (obviously), and he’ll be joined by Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman who will become Mighty Thor.
