This Is How The New Marvel Disney+ Shows Will Link To The Movies

Turns out the shows introduce a lot of important characters.

When Disney+ launches later this year they’ll start premiering a number of TV shows that will tie in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While they’re definitely not the first Marvel TV shows, they will be the first to actually link directly to the movies.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will premiere in late 2020 and has been described as a buddy cop show featuring Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, who, as we know, don’t exactly get on that well.

The pair first started out as enemies in the movies and have been competing for the title of Steve Rogers’ best friend after becoming reluctant allies.

ScreenRant reports that in the show we’ll likely see the pair responding to Steve chose Sam to take over the Captain America mantle over Bucky.

Joe Russo, one of the Avengers: Endgame co-directors, has previously said in an interview with ComicBook.Com that Steve chose Sam because Bucky’s mind isn’t quite right after being taken over so many times.

“Cap and Bucky are brothers but you know what’s interesting about them is they’re very different people and I think that Bucky always has the ability to have his mind corrupted, it can always be taken over by someone else. That hasn’t been resolved for him and Sam has his free will and I think that Sam also had a similar ethic as Cap as far as service goes in the military.”

What doesn’t really make sense, though, is why the name still has Falcon in it and not Captain America. Bucky is also technically known as White Wolf as opposed to his Hydra assassin name the Winter Soldier.

In the show, we’ll see how Sam adjusts to being the new Captain America and the reaction of the country.

Baron Zemo, the villain from Captain America: Civil War will also return to the show and Peggy Carter’s grand-niece Sharon Carter will also be back.

The Doctor Strange sequel will feature Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff in a supporting role so, in the Disney+ series WandaVision, we’ll see how Wanda ends up in that movie and under Doctor Strange’s tutelage.

The TV series will also explain how Vision comes back to life after dying in Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos took the Mind Stone from his head, which should be interesting.

Carol Danver’s best friend’s daughter Monica Rambeau, will also appear in WandaVision, but it’s not known what she’ll be doing, however, we do know in the comics she becomes the next Captain Marvel and eventually leads the Avengers. So, that’s pretty exciting!

The Loki TV series will focus on what happened to the trickster God when he escapes with the Space Stone in the 2012 time travel scene when Tony Stark drops it in Endgame.

What If…? will explore a number of events in the Infinity Saga and how they could have been different if one or two small things changed. According to ScreenRant, one of the ideas that’s rumoured to end up on the show is: “What if Loki found Thor’s hammer?”

Hawkeye will show Clint Barton re-adjusting to life as himself and not his vigilante persona Ronin. It will also show him training his protegé Kate Bishop, who will eventually take the Hawkeye mantle.

It seems like most of these shows are setting up the future of the MCU and hint at a lot of movies and characters that have yet to be announced.
