Hailey Bieber Continues To Convince Herself Marriage Was A Good Idea

"Look, marriage is always going to be hard."

Hailey and Justin Bieber just celebrated their one year anniversary as a married couple, and it’s safe to say, it’s been a ‘learning experience’ for both of them.

In a recent interview with Vogue Australia, Bieber was asked whether she still considers marriage to be “hard.”

“…Look, marriage is always going to be hard and I think good relationships are the relationships that you put the work into. Specifically, I saw that when they were a lot of new things,” she explained. “I had never lived with someone before. I never had to cohabit with somebody in that way, so I was learning how to share space with someone for the first time. We were trying to bend in each other’s direction and learn what was comfortable.”

Hailey has a point – marriage is hard, especially when you’re only 22 years old. However, at times it sounds like she’s trying to convince herself it was a good decision.

Hailey’s conflicted words about marriage come just a few weeks after her husband, Justin, opened up on Instagram about his struggles over the years – including marriage.

After revealing his issues with drugs and abusive relationships, Bieber wrote, “Now I am navigating the best season of my life “MARRIAGE”!! Which is an amazing crazy new responsibility.”

“You learn patience, trust, commitment, kindness, humility and all of the things it looks like to be a good man.” Clearly, getting hitched was a bit of a reality check for both Hailey and Justin.

In her Vogue interview, Hailey Bieber also opened up feeling “inferior” to her model peers like Kendall Jenner and the Hadid sisters. “Even though I’m five-foot-eight, I’m not a runway girl and I totally used to feel inferior to some of my friends.”

Later, Bieber said, “I’m proud of myself for building a more commercial career that worked for me and being confident about it…Sometimes I feel like I’m still finding my lane, but now I know I’m going in the right direction.”

As much it sounds like Hailey is figuring it out as she goes, she’s becoming more and more refreshingly honest with every interview she does. As far as her marriage goes, Bieber also acknowledged that “compromise” is essential to making any relationship last. At 22 years old, those are some wise words.
