Turns Out Sophie Turner Wanted The Same Game Of Thrones Ending As You

"There were so many ways the story could have turned out.”

Let’s be honest, we all envisioned a different ending to Game of Thrones, and it turns out Sophie Turner was hoping for something else as well.

In an interview with The Wrap, the actress, who’s nominated for an Emmy (in her category four out of six of the nominees are from GoT), revealed her dream ending and it’s probably very similar to yours.

“I thought Arya would kill Cersei,” she said. “And I would like to have seen Sansa and Cersei reunited, or Arya and Cersei. But there were so many ways the story could have turned out.”

Um, yeah, we all thought Arya would be the person to kill Cersei and the way she ended up dying was pretty underwhelming.

“I felt very passionately about the ending for Sansa, and I was very happy with the ending that turned out for her,” she added.

Sophie was also asked how she felt about Bran getting the Iron Throne when there are so many strong female characters and he’s “very passive”.

“I suppose it’s not really the Iron Throne anymore. I think it’s true what Tyrion was saying: Bran holds all of our stories, and we can’t move on unless we remember our history.

“Daenerys had to die. Cersei was a mad queen. Arya is too much of a free spirit. Sansa probably wouldn’t want to rule the seven kingdoms anyway — she wanted to stay in the North and defend the North. I really think Bran might be the perfect person for the job.”

She also went on to say how happy she was to have made it to the final episode and the final scene. The actress joked that every time she turned a page on the script she thought it would be her last scene.

When asked about the controversy surrounding the last season, however, the actress got defensive, which makes total sense when you think about the fact the cast and crew put almost a whole year of their lives into making those six episodes.

“The fans are incredible and so loyal, and we love them because of the fact that they’re so, so passionate. I cannot fault them there.

“But when people were saying that there was no effort, that the writers were terrible … The most effort was put into this final season. We were shooting for an incredibly long time, nearly 11 months. We did the most night shoots anyone has done ever, I think.

“I felt a little defensive, and I think I’m entitled to feel like that.”

While fans might not have loved the last season of the show the Emmys voters clearly did because GoT managed to get 32 nominations – the most nominations any series has had in a single year.
