These Bands And Singers Only Exist In A Fictional World, But We Still Stan

I'm still waiting for a new release from the Cantina Band...

In the past few days, the internet has been having a very, very, serious debate. It all started the Preston and Steve Show Tweeted out a question: “What is your favourite ‘Fake Song’ from a movie or tv show?” and the answers came flooding in.

Hey! Make sure you check out our chat with Kat Dopper, the Creative Director of Mardi Gras 2020 and the founder of Heaps Gay on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

So, after scanning what the internet’s picks, we thought we’d put together our own definitive list of the best fictional bands and singers to come out of movies and tv shows. Enjoy!

Billy Mack (Love Actually)

Watching Love Actually at Christmas-time has almost become a December rite-of-passage. As a result, Christmas marks a period when we’re all randomly streaming “Love Is All Around” by Wet Wet Wet. Why? It’s all thanks to this iconic character’s race for the number one spot on the British charts. Honestly, I’m signing a petition to get “Christmas Is All Around” to the number one spot on the ARIA Charts. It’s what it deserves.

Connect 3 (Camp Rock)

The relationship between the Jonas Brothers and Disney was shockingly complex. The boys were making music as the Jonas Brothers, but they were also making music under “Jonas” for their TV show JONAS and “Connect 3” for the Camp Rock films. We’d like to shout out the latter, for giving us radio-ready bangers, such as ‘Play My Music’ and ‘We Rock’. Don’t lie, we know you loved it.

The Cantina Band (Star Wars)

It’s the catchiest song of all time and yet the Cantina Band aren’t getting enough credit for it. Who needs to write another song when you’ve already, definitely hit your peak. These aliens deserve to be the most trending every day because of this catchy bop. Sadly, the only place you could see these guys live would be at the Star Wars world in Disneyland, so consider me saving for a plane ticket.

Jenna Maroney (30 Rock)

Jenna is unlike any pop star you’ve ever heard. She’s an actress, signer and most-importantly a gay icon; the true definition of a triple threat. Case in point, she stole the show from Adam Levine, Mary J Blige and Cyndi Lauper in the iconic series, 30 Rock. Also, her biggest hit is a song about low-calorie muffins. Ugh, her mind.

Weird Sisters (Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire)

If I were to tell you that members of Radiohead and Pulp made were once in a band together, you wouldn’t believe me, right? Well, in news that proves that life in Hogwarts is better than here on earth, Jonny Greenwood, Phil Selway, Jarvis Cocker and Steve Mackey came together to be part of the brit-pop wizard band Weird Sisters

Hannah Montana (Hannah Montana)

It’s almost as if Disney went out of their way to try and trick their audience. Miley Cyrus played Miley Stewart on the tv-series Hannah Montana, a girl who lived a double-life as a normal girl and a pop star. The music made by Hannah Montana was so good, it ended up charting here in the real world. Honestly, one of the greatest fictional singers of all time.
