The first photo of Jared Leto’s Morbius has leaked online, sparking a huge reaction from fans of the Spider-Man villain.
Sony Pictures has begun work on their own cinematic universe based around Spider-Man and his enemies. They’ve already released Venom, with Morbius set for release in July.
Morbius the “living vampire” is best known as one of Spider-Man’s villains, but it’s believed the film will follow Venom’s lead and make him more of an anti-hero.
According to ScreenRant, there have been very few details about the film that have been announced for fans, though it’s believed there will be some sequences that will show Morbius flying.
It’s believed that a trailer will be released on Monday, however, a leaked image has already been released online allowing viewers a glimpse at Jared Leto in full Morbius makeup and costume.
The image was shared next to a photo of the character as he looks in the comics and it appears as though Sony has nailed the look.
Twitter user @0_0MrWhelan0_0 wrote, “Okay while I have my reservations about Morbius, particularly the casting of Jared Leto, I’ll admit, Sony have nailed his look. Pulled straight from the pages of a comic book.”
It’s rumoured that Morbius will be the first “bridge” film between the Spider-verse and the MCU and will include JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson according to DR Movie News‘ Twitter account.
The story follows biochemist Michael Morbius, who develops vampire-like abilities following a failed biochemical experiment.
The movie is set to be more of a horror style and even darker than Venom.
Morbius also stars Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris and Tyrese Gibson.
