Taylor Swift's 'Killing Eve' Cover Is The Most Genius Troll Of Scooter Braun

Look what you made her do.

Over the past few years, Taylor Swift has copped a fair amount of BS from the haters and power-hungry music industry execs – but now, she’s fighting back harder than ever. Case in point: this cover of ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ featured on the TV series Killing Eve.

Speaking of Taylor Swift fighting back, hear about one of her most recent statements below:

Yesterday, Swift debuted the track on Twitter with the caption, “VERY STOKED about this cover of ‘LWYMMD’ on @KillingEve by Jack Leopards & The Dolphin Club!!”

It didn’t take long for fans to start wondering, who the hell is Jack Leopards & The Dolphin Club, and what’s the big deal with the cover?

Well, after some seriously impressive snooping, fans realised that Jack Leopards & The Dolphin Club is a totally fabricated band – the writing credits on the song list Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff, amongst others.

And the biggest troll of all? The cover is produced by Jack Antonoff and Nils Sjoberg AKA Taylor Swift’s notorious songwriting pseudonym.

There’s also speculation that the vocals on the song actually belong to Swift’s brother, Austin, who once had the Twitter handle @thedolphinclub.

I’ll give you a minute to wrap your head around all of this.

Fans are certain this sneaky cover-up was Swift’s way of making sure Scooter Braun and his label Big Machine Records wouldn’t be able to claim any royalties from the song being used on Killing Eve.

In case you’re wondering what on earth Scooter Braun has to do with any of this – allow me to explain. Taylor Swift made her first six albums under Big Machine Records, but when she left the label in 2018 and signed a new deal with Universal Music Group, her original contract meant that Big Machine owned the master recordings for all the music she made under them.

In 2019, Scooter Braun acquired Big Machine in a $300M deal, meaning he had control over a massive chunk of Swift’s body of work. Swift released a statement explaining the whole thing and called Braun out for years of bullying, creating a tidal wave of drama and initiating the involvement of a bunch of other high profile artists and music execs.

The whole thing got so messy that Swift was allegedly prevented from performing her old songs during a medley at the 2019 AMAs, and she wasn’t even allowed to use her older music and performance footage in her Netflix documentary Miss Americana.

Fast-forward to this week and it looks like Taylor Swift is officially done with playing nice. Her Killing Eve cover is pure genius and the ultimate f*ck you to the controlling men trying to prevent her from freedom over her own work.
