Ryan Reynolds' Next Gig Is To Die Repeatedly On Netflix For Our Amusement

So basically 'Edge Of Tomorrow' but starring Deadpool?

Fresh off his his movie 6 Underground for Netflix, Ryan Reynolds’ next gig will see him return to some familiar territory. By that I mean he’ll basically die over and over again for about two hours purely for our enjoyment. No, this is not a Deadpool movie.

Speaking of amusement, the GOAT team talk about Britney Spears and her wild Insta history on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Reynolds is set to die repeatedly to produce and star in a live-action adaptation of the classic 1980s arcade video game, Dragon’s Lair, which tells the story of a cowardly knight named Dirk the Daring and his quest to rescue Princess Daphne from the evil dragon Singe and wizard Mordroc.

Dragon’s Lair was arguably the most popular video game back in the 1980s that incorporated groundbreaking movie-like animation into the mix, and it’ll be interesting to see if this Ryan Reynolds-fronted live-action adaptation will capture the game’s previous glory. He managed to do it with Detective Pikachu so he’s on a good run right now.

So why am I repeatedly saying that Ryan Reynolds will die over and over again like Groundhog Day? Well that’s because Dragon’s Lair is perhaps best known for its numerous comedic death scenes and players often do what they can to get a “game over” just to see the various funny ways on how Dirk the Daring meets his end.

I’m not just saying this just because I want to see Ryan Reynolds die repeatedly like a comedic version of Edge Of Tomorrow. The man himself said so himself:

Between Free Guy, 6 Underground, Detective Pikachu and now Dragon’s Lair, it really seems like Ryan Reynolds is using his clout to indulge in his childhood video game fantasies, not that that’s a bad thing. If you could, then why wouldn’t you?

Now it remains to be seen when we’ll see Ryan Reynolds die on a loop in Dragon’s Lair because the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic has shut down virtually every production in Hollywood, including Netflix’s projects. For now, we’ll just have to make do with re-watches of Deadpool since that’s basically the same premise anyway.
