Ruby Rose Chimes In Just As The New Batwoman Is Revealed

Rose has been replaced following her shock exit.

After Ruby Rose’s incredibly awkward exit from Batwoman earlier this year, the show has finally gone and found a replacement.

It was just announced that Javicia Leslie, aka the icon who plays Ali Finer on God Friended Me, will be stepping into the Batwoman suit, making her the first Black woman to ever to play the character. Yas!

We spoke about LGBTQIA+ representation on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

In a statement, Javicia Leslie said: “I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honoured to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community.” We certainly love to see it.

And what do you have it? Ruby Rose has chimed in with her opinion after the announcement was made and she’s actually pretty happy. “OMG!! This is amazing!!” Ruby Rose said in a post made on Instagram. “I am so glad Batwoman will be played by an amazing Black woman. I want to congratulate Javicia Leslie on taking over the bat cape. You are walking into an amazing cast and crew. I can’t wait to watch season 2 you are going to be amazing!!”

There you have it! No bad blood anymore, how good. Ruby Rose exited the show just a few months ago. In a statement, she said: “I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season… This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles.” After this statement was released, the CW Network promised they would find a replacement who was part of the LGBTQIA+ community and we’re glad they did.

This new Batwoman will not be Kate Kane, and in fact, it will pretty much be the opposite of the character Ruby Rose played in the first season. According to a character description, “Ryan Wilder is about to become Batwoman. She’s likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She’s also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the Batsuit before her.” Okay, now we’re talking.

“With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. Today, Ryan lives in her van with her plant. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical all-American hero.”

Words can not simply describe how excited we are.
