Not One, But Two Of Ellen DeGeneres' DJs Have Spoken Out On Misconduct Allegations

"I did experience and feel the toxicity of the environment."

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re invested in this Ellen drama. In the past few weeks, Ellen has come under fire for creating an environment of “toxicity” in the workplace and while she has apologised for this, it was a pretty half-assed apology.

We spoke about all of this Ellen drama on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

Subsequently, a number of staff members have since come out and spoken publicly about the “toxicity” of the environment but also a number of celebrities have done the same with contradicting opinions. Now, two of Ellen’s DJs have come out with statements. One is currently working on the show and the other one is a former employee and we bet you can already see where this is going.

Firstly, let’s talk about Ellen DeGeneres’ longtime DJ, Tony Okungbowa. Tony worked on The  Ellen DeGeneres Show as Ellen’s very first DJ, who remained on the show for approximately a decade. Now, given all of the allegations that are swinging around, the media have been pressuring Okungbowa to speak up and he has.

In an Instagram post, Tony Okungbowa addressed his experience of working on The  Ellen DeGeneres Show, saying: “I was on-air talent from 2003-2006 and from 2007-2013. While I am grateful for the opportunity it afforded me, I did experience and feel the toxicity of the environment.”

Tony Okungbowa continued, “I stand with my former colleagues in their quest to create a healthier and more inclusive workplace as the show moves forward.” Ooffft. There you go. Check out his whole statement here.

Since Tony Okungbowa has spoken up in solidarity with workers, Ellen’s current DJ, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, has also spoken out, but this time in favour of Ellen.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Stephen “tWitch” Boss said, “We can’t speak too much legally about it, but I’ll say this, there’s been love… Obviously there’s some things to address, but from my standpoint and from countless others, there’s been love. I’ll just leave it at that until there’s a time where we can address more publicly.”

Interesting. We guess time will tell.
