'Mandalorian' Star Reveals Clue To Why Baby Yoda Means So Much To Moff Gideon

"It means more to me than you will ever know."

The world has truly become obsessed by Baby Yoda AKA The Child after watching season one of The Mandalorian, but one thing that was left unanswered was why Moff Gideon was so keen to get his hands on the creature.

Moff Gideon, played by Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito, appeared in the final scene of the season standing on his TIE Fighter wielding the Darksaber and we were left wondering why he was so intent on finding The Child.

Speaking of Baby Yoda, hear what the GOAT team thinks of Baby Yoda’s 2020 plans in the It’s Been A Big Day For… podcast. Listen below:

Esposito hasn’t come out and said exactly why Moff Gideon been searching for Baby Yoda, but he did say that he knows why and shared a clue.

Speaking with IGN, the actor said, “I know … Like any great leader or scientist — clue, clue, clue — with someone who is advanced in a certain way, yeah, you could want to be their best friend, or you could want to co-opt what is inside them to figure out how to make all of us a little better at humanity.

“So it’s that power and control of a Moff leader who is trying to put the universe back together. But, how does he know everything? How does he know everything that’s going on? He’s a very interesting character and I’m so honored to be a part of this production.”

So Moff Gideon knows a lot about what’s going on, he even knew Cara Dune’s full name and the fact she was from Alderaan. He also knew Mando’s real name was Din Djarin and he knows a lot more about Baby Yoda than we do.

During the episode, he tells Mando, “You have something I want. You may think you have some idea of what you are in possession of, but you do not… It means more to me than you will ever know.”

According to Bustle, Moff Gideon could be the person who sets up the First Order and could even be serving Supreme Leader Snoke or Emperor Palpatine.

It likely goes back to ‘Chapter 3’ where The Client tells Dr Pershing they need “to extract the necessary material” from Baby Yoda, which could be midi-chlorians – life forms that measure how much Force is in a being.

Maybe Baby Yoda’s midi-chlorians are transferred to Snoke or Palpatine thus bringing him back?

Gideon could also be invested in Baby Yoda because he, or perhaps someone he knows, had previously encountered Jedi master Yoda and therefore he knows the origins of The Child.

Meanwhile, Esposito has previously spoken about Baby Yoda’s cuteness, saying his daughters have warned him not to hurt The Child.

He told IGN, “Are you kidding me? It melts my heart, because the reality is, this little baby does things that you could never imagine and when you look at those eyes and that little body, how can you not help but fall in love?

“Even me as Giancarlo, even me as Moff Gideon, I gotta walk away, I can’t look too much at that baby because that baby will put a spell on you.”
