Jess From 'Masterchef' Proves You Don't Need To Play Dirty To Win At Life

She's breaking the rules for all the right reasons.

If you cried during last night’s episode of Masterchef: Back To Win, don’t worry you’re not alone. While it was truly sad to see Amina Elshafei leave the show last night, there was one moment in particular which touched our literal souls.

We spoke about the season premiere of ‘Masterchef: Back to Win’ on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

To recap, in this episode, the bottom team from the prior show were competing in what would soon be revealed as the toughest pressure test in the show’s history. Why? Oh, no biggie. There was simply a shocking twist to come.

Amina Elshafei, Poh, Callum, Hayden, Tracy, Jess, Reynold, Sarah Clare and Laura were stunned as a familiar face, Darren Purchese, walked into the Masterchef kitchen. For his test, they would be re-creating his infamous passionfruit pavlova.

However, with the pressure-test well under-way, the Masterchef judges decided to pull a twist on the contestants, removing the recipes from right before their very eyes. Subsequently, Amina Elshafei, Poh Ling Yeow and a few others struggled to remember all of the elements.

We mean, can you blame them?

When the recipe was taken away from Amina Elshafei, she got caught up in her own thoughts and struggled to push on. In her interview, she stated, “The twist, that’s really thrown me off, I still have so many elements to go and I know that the others are well ahead of me, I just feel like I’m struggling now.”

As Amina Elshafei uttered “Don’t remember the ratios, it’s all just past me at the moment” in the Masterchef kitchen, Jess rushed to her side.

Literally, an icon.

Jess (the real MVP of this episode) popped to Amina’s workbench asking if she needed the recipe, before proceeding to tell her everything she knew before Amina could answer. Now, that is how you be a good sport in a competition. There’s no need for sabotage, just room for amazing chefs to compete with other amazing chefs.

After Jess gave Amina the recipe, Amina said, “I can’t believe what Jess is doing, you know telling me the ratios for that mousse… We’ve created this amazing friendship, and for her to help me out, ugh man, she is so kind.” Honestly, we could all use a friend like Jess in our lives.
