COVID Isolation Has Australia Lusting Over The New Masterchef Judges

Masterchef Australia has made a return that’s bigger and brighter than ever before. The Channel 10 cooking show has been a staple of Australian tv for the past decade and given last night’s episode, it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere.

We spoke about the Masterchef season 12 premiere on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

While there were concerns that the show wouldn’t live up to the hype since George Calombaris, Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan had left the series, the season premiere of Masterchef: Back To Win has proved otherwise.

Last night’s episode of Masterchef: Back To Win raked in 1.23 million viewers, which is the highest amount of viewers the series has drawn in for an opening since 2015. This was largely thanks to the curious Aussies who wanted to check out the brand new judges, Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen.

And well, it looks like they filled the shoes of their predecessors perfectly because Twitter was living for the new judges – and not just for their opinions.

Having said this, there was one judge who garnered the most attention and that was Jock Zonfrillo. Jock’s a celebrity chef who happens to own his own restaurant in Adelaide, ‘Orana’. But, if you hopped onto Twitter last night, you would think this guy was just a model because boy, was Australia thirsty.

One Twitter user even compared Jock Zonfrillo to Simon Baker’s, most iconic character, The Mentalist. And yeah, we see it.

Nevertheless, the contestants were also shown some love. Hayden was definitely a favourite and not necessarily because of his food.

Also, there was Callum’s glow up from boy-next-door to complete and literal daddy.

Heck, the show was so hot, we had to question if we were watching the right Channel 10 program.

So kudos to Masterchef for one hell of a season opener, you can count us in for the rest of the season – and that’s not just because we don’t have anything else to do in COVID-19 isolation!

The One Direction Reunion Is More Complicated Than You Think

It’s a long way down.

If you logged onto the Internet this morning, you would have been hit with a wave of nostalgia as rumours of a One Direction reunion dominated our timelines. While there is some truth to this, the situation is a little more complicated than we thought.

For more on what musicians have been up to in COVID-19 quarantine, check out this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

Rumours of a One Direction reunion have been bubbling way before the hashtag ‘#1DOnlineConcertStayAtHome’ trended worldwide today. With the band’s 10-year anniversary coming up on July 23 this year, eager Directioners have been keeping their eye out for clues. And boy, have there been clues.

But no clue was greater than the one that was noticed just yesterday. It was revealed that Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and the official One Direction account have all refollowed Zayn Malik on Twitter. Exciting? Yes. Does this mean all five members are down for a reunion? Sadly, no. It would appear that, at the time of writing, Zayn Malik has unfortunately not followed them back.

Will Zayn please follow these boys back?

However, according to Page Six, One Direction is secretly working on a plan to celebrate their 10th anniversary. While a tour is definitely ruled out, ideas are ranging from a TV special to a new single. Each of the One Direction boys has gone off and made music on their own, to varying degrees of success since the band’s split in 2016.

A source close to one of the One Direction member’s management teams has said, “There’s still a long way to go and a lot of hurdles. Obviously, at the moment anything they do would have to be done virtually… But there’s a lot of goodwill between them now and they want to make something happen.”

Even Liam Payne has commented on the potential One Direction reunion. On Thursday the ‘Both Ways’ singer told The Sun, “We’ve got a 10-year anniversary coming up so we’ve all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks which has been really nice… There’s a number of different things that we are all working on to try and make happen and people are forwarding emails around.”

All we want to do is bring back this dance.

Well, it looks like something One Direction-related is on the way. Will Zayn be involved? We can only hope!

FYI, Your IG Feed Is About To Be Full Of Super Pink Moons

On Wednesday's we have pink moons.

Tonight’s the night a super pink moon will rise and we could not be more excited. We’re all stuck inside our homes in an effort to slow down COVID-19, which means we literally have nothing better to do than to walk outside at night and take grainy photos of the moon on our outdated iPhones. Love this plan for us!

We spoke about this super moon on today’s episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

The annual phenomenon occurs when the moon is directly opposite the sun and simultaneously, is also at the closest point to earth during its orbit. Here, the moon will look about 7% larger and 15% brighter than the average full moon. Okay, come through super pink moon!

Now, this may be confusing, but the moon won’t technically be pink – it’ll actually have a slight orange and yellowy colour. The reason we call this super moon a pink moon is because it is named after the blossoming of fuchsia phlox flowers in the States (which happens around this time).

The technical name for the super pink moon spectacle is perigee-syzygy (try saying that five times in a row very quickly!). “Perigee” means the point in which the moon is closest to our planet, and “syzygy” is the term for when the earth, moon and sun are all aligned. Interestingly, tonight will be the largest and brightest we see the moon this year. Yay!

If you want to know how to see the super pink moon, we’ve got the rundown for you. You’re going to want to stand at the highest and darkest possible place to get the best view of the gleaming moon. But, given social distancing, maybe just try turning off all your house lights and walking outside. The moon rises at around 6 pm, but it’ll really come into effect around 11 pm.

According to GlobalNewsHut, these are the best times to view the super pink moon. If you’re in Sydney the peak is at 11:04 pm, if you’re in Melbourne the peak is at 11:22 pm, if you’re in Brisbane the peak is at 11:01 pm, if you’re in Adelaide the peak is at 11:17 pm and if you’re in Perth the peak is at 11:24 pm.

What are you waiting for? Go and dig out your old telescope that was given to you when you were 14, get it set up and watch the super pink moon in all its bright glory! See you on Instagram, but please don’t use an Ariana Grande quote for your caption because I’m doing that…
