Jason Derulo Proves He's Legit The Only Person Who Thought 'Cats' Was A Great Idea

"I got chills down my spine!"

While Jason Derulo has cemented himself as a TikTok legend, we will always remember him as one of the feisty felines in Cats and it seems that he will too. In a new interview, Jason Derulo opened up about all of his initial thoughts when he took on the role for the movie, that saw rejection from literally everyone, including furries

We spoke about Jason Derulo on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

In an interview with The Telegraph, the ‘Savage Love’ singer opened up about the role which he thought was the biggest deal in the world. “I thought it was gonna change the world,” Jason Derulo shared. “Even when I saw the trailer, I got chills down my spine!” Look, Jason, we’re not going to lie, we also got chills down our spine too, but potentially for different reasons.

On top of this, Jason Derulo also shared that he put a lot of time and thought into taking on this role as his first acting gig. “For the longest time, I was trying to figure out what’s the perfect first role,” Jason Derulo shared. “Cats checked all the boxes.” Honestly, we can totally see this from Jason. As a professionally trained opera singer, you’d hope that your first venture into Hollywood would show off your incredible ability. Such a shame it didn’t work out that way.

Jason Derulo then continued, “You can’t get a more start-studded cast, you don’t get a more respected director than an Oscar winner, and Rum Tum Tugger is a legacy role, a standout character in a classic musical.” Aww, Jason’s just a musical theatre nerd. We can’t help but feel bad for the guy. Look, Cats wasn’t the be-all and end-all for him.

Even though it seemed that Cats was only enjoyed by people when they were under the influence of something, Jason Derulo’s acting career didn’t stop with this role. Thanks to TikTok, this singer has expanded into the world of acting and he’s literally hilarious. He’s even collaborated with Will Smith, how many actors can say that?
