It’s been 15 years since Twilight blessed book-store shelves and shaped an entire generation. Whether you were Team Jacob or Team Edward, you were caught up in the vampire-hype in some way shape or form. Now, it looks like that hype is coming back because Stephenie Meyer has launched a countdown and we have no idea what it is, but fans think it’s a new Twilight book.

While the Twilight saga seemingly ended with the release of Breaking Dawn, Stephenie Meyer might just be giving us a little bit more of the good stuff. Meyer has shared a countdown on her official website that ends on May 4th, prompting social media speculation as who what on earth it could possibly mean.
The most popular theory involves an unfinished instalment of the Saga called Midnight Sun. Some Twitter users even looked into the code of the website to test their theories.
In 2008, Meyer was working on a new book called Midnight Sun, which is from the perspective of Edward as opposed to Bella’s. However, drafts of that book showed up online and she subsequently halted the project.
In response to the leak, she publicly posted 12 chapters for fans to read and said it was likely the book would not be completed. However, five years ago, Stephenie Meyer revealed she had been working on the Breaking Dawn follow up again. Needless to say, fans are excited.
Having said that, there are also other rumours flying around. Some of Stephenie Meyer’s fans think that the countdown will mark a release of a sequel to the author’s other book, The Host as opposed to Twilight. This book actually saw a film adaptation starring Saoirse Ronan in 2013.
Additionally, Fickle Fish Films shared the news of Stephanie Meyer’s website update, so there is a chance this announcement is linked to that company in some way shape or form.
One thing’s for sure, until that countdown hits zero, we’ll have no idea what it means. In the meantime, all we have to do is dig up the ol’ Twi-hard merchandise and re-read all the fanfic we can kind.
