All The Times That Bands Made Cameos You Didn’t Notice

Coldplay appearing in a scene is not a good omen for the main characters.

Last week I learned that Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood and Philip Selway, and Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker and Steve Mackey teamed up for the world’s best band cameo to be a part of the brit-pop wizard band Weird Sisters. You know, the ones from Harry Potter who sing Do The Hippogriff? Those ones.

Turns out bands make cameos in films way more often than I’d thought, so here are some of the best.

Chester Bennington – Saw 3D: The Final Chapter (2010)

The singer for Linkin Park, Dead by Sunrise, and Stone Temple Pilots was a big fan of the Saw movies. When he met Mark Burg, the producer of the films, Chester told him all about how much he loved them and was offered a minor role as a skinhead who wakes superglued to a car seat.

Ozzy Osbourne – Trick Or Treat (1986)

This movie is cheesy as hell and the perfect film for an Ozzy Osbourne cameo, but I would never in a million years have picked up that he was cameoing as the Reverend by looking at him. I mean look at this. Come on.

Will Champion – Game Of Thrones (2013)

Will Champion is the drummer of Coldplay, and makes a cameo in one of the most brutal Game Of Thrones episodes ever. He’s playing the drums at the Red Wedding, and gets a few seconds worth of cameo before everyone gets brutally murdered.

Chris Martin – Shaun Of The Dead (2004)

Coldplay is back. This time their frontman, Chris Martin, stumbles around as a zombie.

Anthony Kiedis – Point Break (1991)

Frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers gets into a beach fight with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. There’s a sentence and a half. Anthony Kiedis is actually a massive fan of surfing in real life though, so I guess it checks out that he’d be there.

Blink 182 – American Pie (1999)

The the scene where Jim accidentally broadcasts his attempts to seduce Nadia, Blink 182 are some of the people that huddle around the computer to watch what happens. To be fair though, if ever there was a move that Blink 182 would cameo in, it would be American Pie.
