The debate about whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie has been raging since dawn rose over Nakatomi Plaza.
Here’s the thing, 20th Century Fox, the makers of Die Hard agree and they’ve released a holiday recut of the classic trailer to back it up.
You might even argue that it’s just a movie set at Christmas, alas you’d be more wrong than Hans Gruber thinking he can outsmart John McClane.
Die Hard embodies the important values we hold dear during this humble holiday.
It’s about a guy who is willing to risk life, limb and broken glass to rescue his wife from the clutches of evil terrorists.
Jimmy Stewart didn’t do that, and neither did Hugh Grant in Love Actually, because do you know what matters more than words? Goddamn actions.
This movie is the embodiment of Christmas and even then, you might be like, “Well didn’t Bruce Willis say that it wasn’t a Christmas movie?”
Well, Bruce Willis chose to do Die Hard 5, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about anymore.
So enjoy the greatest Christmas story ever told, 1988’s Die Hard.
