The One Scene From Clueless That Still Makes Paul Rudd Cringe And Honestly, Same

"It’s like nails on a chalkboard.”

It’s been almost 24 years since Clueless was first released and while we love every bit of it, it seems there’s one detail from the 1995 classic that Paul Rudd absolutely hates.

The star participated in a Clueless reunion panel at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo on Saturday alongside Alicia Silverstone, Donald Faison and Breckin Meyer, and revealed the unexpected scene that makes him cringe.

The scene occurs just after Cher and Dionne give Tai her makeover and Paul’s character Josh is seen making a sandwich.

When asked by an audience member if Paul had any advice to give his younger self while filming the movie, he said, “When I go to the kitchen and I make the sandwich, I would put the mayonnaise on the bread, and not directly onto the turkey itself.”

Watch the scene below from 1:45 to see Paul awkwardly putting mayo on the turkey and not on the bread as you normally would:

The scene makes Paul even more uncomfortable because he actually hates mayo!

“A little thing about me is I hate mayonnaise and I hate condiments. And it skeeved me out,” he told the crowd. “I had never had mayonnaise on a sandwich.”

No wonder he freaked out!

“I was so nervous with the timing of the scene, I just put the mayonnaise on the turkey,” he recalled. “Now, when I see that scene, it’s like nails on a chalkboard.”

He did reveal he had many other fond memories of working on the film, saying, “I loved working with Alicia,” adding that he even lived with Faison and Meyer while shooting, “It was a blast, the whole thing.”

Rudd even revealed that a lot of what he wore in the movie were his own clothes, “I was very into fashionable clothing, or so I thought, and I had a sticker that said, ‘Why be normal?’” he explained.

“I thought, ‘I’m gonna put this on our car, but I’m gonna put it upside down.’ Brilliant. That was me at 16.”

Dorky Paul Rudd is the best!
