Zayn Malik Opens Up About His Relationship With The Rest Of One Direction, And It's Sad News For Directioners

He told Vogue that he didn't make a single friend during his time in the band. Bleak.

Zayn Malik has opened up about his time in One Direction during an interview with Vogue UK, and it’s a depressing read for any diehard fans who were hoping for a reunion.

Talking about their meteoric rise to the top of the charts, Zayn said:

“People take it different ways – especially when there are five different personalities. The relationships had broken apart.”

As for his relationships with his bandmates following his departure in March 2015, he said he hadn’t made a single friend during his time in One Direction, and he doesn’t speak to any of the other guys anymore.

“I ain’t spoke to any of them for a long time, to be honest with you. That’s just the way it is. There’s things that happen and things that were said after I left… Snide things. Small things that I would never have expected.”

I wonder if he’s talking about Louis’ digs at him on Twitter back in May 2015. Naughty Boy, a producer Zayn was working with, uploaded this photo of the two of them:

Which prompted Louis to tweet:

Brutal.

Naughty Boy responded, Louis shot back, and then Zayn stepped in and took aim at his former bandmate:

It was very messy and very public, and came so soon after Malik’s departure from the band – it’s clear emotions were still a bit raw.

I’m sure other things were said behind-the-scenes that made Zayn feel the way he does, and it’s a shame things ended on such bad terms, because 1D were pretty fun together. But all good things must come to an end, I guess.

Many fans have taken the interview as confirmation that Zayn won’t be involved in the band’s promised reunion in 2020. He’s clearly the Posh of the group.
