Zayn Malik Opens Up About His Relationship With The Rest Of One Direction, And It's Sad News For Directioners

He told Vogue that he didn't make a single friend during his time in the band. Bleak.

Zayn Malik has opened up about his time in One Direction during an interview with Vogue UK, and it’s a depressing read for any diehard fans who were hoping for a reunion.

Talking about their meteoric rise to the top of the charts, Zayn said:

“People take it different ways – especially when there are five different personalities. The relationships had broken apart.”

As for his relationships with his bandmates following his departure in March 2015, he said he hadn’t made a single friend during his time in One Direction, and he doesn’t speak to any of the other guys anymore.

“I ain’t spoke to any of them for a long time, to be honest with you. That’s just the way it is. There’s things that happen and things that were said after I left… Snide things. Small things that I would never have expected.”

I wonder if he’s talking about Louis’ digs at him on Twitter back in May 2015. Naughty Boy, a producer Zayn was working with, uploaded this photo of the two of them:

Which prompted Louis to tweet:

Naughty Boy responded, Louis shot back, and then Zayn stepped in and took aim at his former bandmate:

It was very messy and very public, and came so soon after Malik’s departure from the band – it’s clear emotions were still a bit raw.

I’m sure other things were said behind-the-scenes that made Zayn feel the way he does, and it’s a shame things ended on such bad terms, because 1D were pretty fun together. But all good things must come to an end, I guess.

Many fans have taken the interview as confirmation that Zayn won’t be involved in the band’s promised reunion in 2020. He’s clearly the Posh of the group.

Harry Styles Further Cements His Status As A Gay Icon By Helping A Fan Come Out To Her Mum

We stan a supportive king with magical hair.

At his San Jose concert last week, queer icon and wearer of the best suits Harry Styles made hearts melt when he gave the best possible response to a fan’s sign.

Twitter user Grace had been travelling up and down the West Coast of the US to see Harry at 11 shows in 8 cities, and took a poster to his San Jose show that said “I travelled 2846 miles to be here tonight to thank you for 10 incredible shows”, with the reverse reading “I’m gonna come out to my parents because of you!!!”

Since Grace was near the front, Harry actually saw her sign, and engaged her in conversation, asking where her mum was (in her hotel room, four miles away)  and what her and her mum’s names were.  He then asked the crowd to quieten down so he can shout “TINA, SHE’S GAY!” He then followed it up with “Tina says she loves you”.

Tina responded extremely positively and even accompanied Grace to one of Harry’s concerts in Los Angeles.

In a coming out post on Instagram, Grace said she’s been progressively coming out as bi to more and more friends over the course of the year. If you’re going to tell the entire world about your identity in one fell swoop, having Harry Styles do it for you is definitely one of the best ways to do it.

Grace’s experience is a fantastic example of how supportive celebrities and the spaces their fans create for themselves online can help young people coming to terms with themselves. While such spaces aren’t uncommon online, it’s not often we get to see the subject of their obsession engage with their fans in this way.

Thanks for the wholesome content, Harry.
