Vanessa Hudgens has reflected on her relationship with Zac Efron on the Awards Chatter podcast and she’s revealed just how “grateful” she is to have dated her former co-star – and we totally get it.
I mean…
The High School Musical star says her relationship with her co-star started off “really organically”.
“I could not have been more grateful to have that relationship at the time.”
She added that it was nice to have someone who was also going through the crazy success of High School Musical.
“It was this massive phenomenon and [all] eyes were on me. And it’s just a really weird foreign thing to go through, and by being in a relationship, it kind of kept me stabilised and grounded, and I had someone to lean on who was going through it as well.”
However, their relationship did come with its lows, like having to work together when they were fighting.
“I remember one time we did have a fight and it was while we were at rehearsals, and I remember Kenny Ortega coming around the corner with the most concerned look on his face like, ‘Oh no, is our movie going to fall apart?’”
“I pride myself on being a professional, so I was like that aside we are going to move forward and do what we need to do…and we sorted it all out. I think because I was so young, I think that relationship stabilized me.”
The pair began dating a year after the first HSM film was released and then split about four years later in 2010. Since then, Vanessa began dating boyfriend Austin Butler, who she actually met on the set of HSM – there’s no record of him being in the flick but it’s possible he was an extra.
Meanwhile, Zac is still not dating me and is believed to be seeing Olympic swimmer, Sarah Bro.
So, good for him, I guess…
