The Russos Would've Dusted All The X-Men Except For Wolverine In Infinity War For This Simple Reason

That's harsh.

The Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo have revealed if they had access to the X-Men characters they would’ve chosen to snap all of them except for Wolverine.

When 21st Century Fox was acquired by Disney fans quickly began theorising how the X-Men and other characters like the Fantastic Four will join the MCU.

Unsurprisingly, many people have asked Avengers writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely as well as the Russo brothers how they would have handled the X-Men as part of the stories they created. And now we know the sad truth.

Speaking with IGN’s Up At Noon Show, the Russos said that if Gambit, Jean Grey, Storm, Cyclops and Rogue were in Infinity War they all would have been dusted and Wolverine would have survived.

Joe explained their reasoning, and it’s actually pretty simple. He said, “I’d love to see a fiercely motivated Wolverine going up against Thanos.”

We imagine the clawed hero would have felt a similar level of anger as Thor, but given how angry Wolverine is on a day-to-day basis, it probably would have been on another level.

It would have also been interesting to see him having to work with the remaining Avengers to obtain the Infinity Stones, especially given he wouldn’t have worked with them for long and likely wouldn’t have trusted them immediately.

Of course, we’ll never know what would have happened, but it will be interesting to see how Disney integrates Fox’s assets into their own projects in the future.

At this stage we don’t know when the X-Men will appear on the big screen once again, but there’s a tiny chance that the announcement could be coming at The D23 Expo which is held on August 23 to 25. But we won’t be holding our breath…
