Girl Sends Hilarious Live Text Updates Of England's First World Cup Match To Her Boyfriend, Someone Please Give Her A Job As A Commentator Immediately

Her priorities (protect the hairstyles!) and bemused banter (why are British players so delicate?) sent her screenshots viral.

You can always tell when it’s World Cup time: colleagues arrive bleary eyed and incoherent after spending the wee hours of the morning watching a match (or just weeknight drinking and blaming the football).

Fans do their best to keep up, but it’s impossible to see everything.

The solution? Get yourself a super-obliging girlfriend to send you live updates via text.

In a tweet that has since gone viral, Twitter user @lightningstarr shared the texts she sent to her boyfriend during the football match and, oh my, they are funny.

“We’re 34 minutes in and everyone’s hair is still holding up well,” she wrote. Let’s be honest, hair is a very important part of the World Cup. As is calf size, ab definition and triceps shape.

“Tunisia score. Free kick for England,” she continued, doing well to balance her humour with legitimate information.

“An English man received a light tap and fell down violently.” I mean, she pretty much sums up what we’re all thinking when it comes to the players consistently faking injuries.

And apparently, the elaborate injuries continued:

“A Tunisian man is on the flooe [sic]. Looks like he got hit in the hair. The referee is uninterested. The man with the injured hair is not pleased.”

Hair injuries are really serious, guys.

People were clearly impressed by her refreshingly honest take and suggested she should take up World Cup commentary full time.

I just hope she hasn’t set any expectations for other girlfriends out there to follow suit because, well, my commentary would look a lot like this…
