It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Some Crazy Person Made A Tetris Game That Mercilessly Trolls You And Now I Can't Play The Original Without Getting Super Angry

Why would someone do such a thing to what is meant to be a fun and meditative experience?

Everyone has different tastes and likes when it comes to entertainment. But I’m willing to wager that almost everyone will have a soft spot for the one of the founding fathers of electronic entertainment: Tetris.

There’s something about steadily stacking up random shaped blocks that remains forever appealing, whether it’s the meditative feeling of making neat rows of bricks over and over again or the competitive nature in trying to achieving the highest score.

Time to throw all that out the window because some crazy person made a new version of Tetris with the sole purpose of trolling all its players.

Titled Tetrolled (I see what they did there), the game looks and feels virtually identical to every single game of Tetris you’ve played. Random blocks drop down, you arranged them into rows, rinse and repeat. Nothing too dramatic.

For the first 10 seconds anyway.

The big twist is when random blocks suddenly appear from thin air. That’s right, as you’re steadily stacking your rows of bricks, random blocks will come out of nowhere and in the most inconvenient places, causing that epic four-row setup you’ve been building to be utterly ruined.

This is simply evil. Pure, unadulterated, seething, evil.

The mastermind behind this infuriating little game is a developer who goes by the handle Travesol_Dog and you’ll be surprised to know that they didn’t make Tetrolled purely to spite every person on Earth.

Tetrolled was in fact created as part of the 42nd Ludum Darean event where creators and developers are given a limited amount of time to build a game around a set theme. The theme for this particular Ludum Dare happened to be “running out of space”, which Travesol_Dog took to mean as “messing with people in the most annoying yet harmless way”.

The creator describes their game as “It’s like Tetris except the game doesn’t really care”, which is just a really polite of way of saying “this version of Tetris will spit in your face and make you cry in more ways than you thought was possible”.

I can feel those intrusive blocks laughing at me whenever they pop out out of thin air. Just smugly sitting there, mocking me.

If you want to put yourself through the the most unimaginable video game evil ever, then be my guest. You’ve been warned.
