It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Thank Jennifer Lopez And Millions Of Horny People For The Creation Of Google Images

Curiosity and/or sex is the end goal for all innovation.

From looking up random stuff to finding pictures of literally anything, Google is part of our everyday lives whether you like it or not. What you may not know is how Google Images only came about – or at least came into existence sooner than expected – thanks to the odd combination of Jennifer Lopez, the 2000 Grammys, Versace and millions upon millions of horny and/or curious people.

The year was 2000, Google Images was nothing but a mere fantasy and Jennifer Lopez was (and still is) one of the biggest stars in the world.

We all know J-Lo is perfectly capable of rocking a red carpet in whatever look she chooses. As it so happened on that fateful night at the 2000 Grammys, the singer decided to wear a Versace dress.

However, it wasn’t just any Versace dress. It was exotic green, sheer with a tropical leaf and bamboo pattern, and had a neckline that reached past the wearer’s navel.

Combine that dress with a Jennifer Lopez and you get something like this:

It took years for people to realise there was someone else standing next to J-Lo on the Grammys stage that night.

With nothing but sheer collective will keeping that Versace dress on J-Lo’s shoulders and enough cleavage to give the elderly a heart attack, the whole world was quickly talking about her daring ensemble, so much so the dress got its own frigging Wikipedia page.

So what does this have to do with Google Images?

Well millions upon millions of curious people (and horny teenagers) wanted to see J-Lo in that Versace dress and Google was absolutely inundated with searches for “Jennifer Lopez’s green dress.”

It was by far the most popular search query Google had ever seen at the time and it ultimately led to the creation of Images in 2001 since the company had to appease the millions of horny and/or curious people wanting to see photos of J-Lo in that green Versace dress but had no practical way doing it at the time (Google only did text searches back then).

So there you go, the reason why you’re able to search up images of anything from cute animals to leaked screenshots of shows is because millions of people wanted to see Jennifer Lopez rock the hell out of a ridiculously low-cut Versace dress.
