Season Two Of 'Dirty John' Is Going To Take Us On Another Roller Coaster Of Emotions

Get ready to binge because Dirty John season 2 has been announced, and hoo boy, it’s going to get messy.

Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story will follow the RL tale of Betty Broderick, an American housewife who was convicted of the 1989 murder of her ex-husband, Daniel T. Broderick, and his second wife, Linda Broderick. 

According to TVLine, Betty Broderick will be played by Amanda Peet and Dan Broderick will be played by Christian Slater in the series which has been described as an “epic true tale of love gone wrong.”

“A story that spans the 1960s to the ‘80s, through the breakdown of a marriage that Oprah deemed one of ‘America’s messiest divorces’ even before it ended in double homicide.” You know when our Queen Oprah says something, it’s a story that needs your attention.

College sweethearts Betty and Daniel Broderick married in 1969 and ended up becoming parents to five children. Over the course of their two-decade marriage, Dan was the Broderick’s breadwinner. While the family was financially stable, Betty became a full-time housewife and their relationship began to breakdown. When they finally divorced and Dan married his second wife, all hell broke loose. 

The first season of Dirty John, based on the podcast of the same name, followed the true story of wealthy interior designer Debra Newell who fell in love with John Meehan, a con man posing as an anaesthesiologist with a history of deceiving women who ultimately ruins her life. 

John Meehan was played by Eric Bana and Debra Newell was played by Connie Britton in the television series, which went on to earn Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice award nominations. 

If the Dirty John season 2 is anything like the first, we are in for a wild roller coaster of emotions. Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story is currently in production, and is set to premiere next year.
